No GPS connection while running.

Hi,

I just got a fitbit Charge 3, it synchronises normally and everything seems to be working OK. However, when I am going for a run I can only connect to my phone and its GPS whilst the screen on my phone is on, so when I start running and the screen goes black it stops being connected. 

I have got an LG G6, I tried turning bluetooth on/off, reconnected the Charge 3 multiple times, turned my phone on and off. 

Can anyone help me find a solution?
