I can no longer see what happened on previous days. The last full day I can see stepping back through previous days is Aug 26th, 2024. Aug 27th only shows 852 steps. Every day after that show a "0" for everything except the current day. I can manually sync and the current day will show the correct step count, but the next time I go into the app it will show "0" again. I tried updating to the most recent version of the app, but the behavior is the same. The message with the weekly summary appears correct, but the app appears to be broken. Oddly, for one day this week (Tuesday or Wednesday) the app appeared to display history and weekly and monthly totals correctly. Sadly, it soon reverted to the broken behavior...

@rmcj001 I am seeing EXACTLY the same thing, except my steps on 8/27 show as 211, and they all took place between midnight and 3:00 AM ET. I suspect an "update" was released on 8/27 around or shortly after that time. Ever since, my tracker tracks accurately and syncs with my Android phone app correctly throughout the day, but at midnight, when the step count resets to zero, it also zeroes out my step count for the previous day. I am using a Fitbit One. Which Fitbit are you using?

I'm not sure if the step issue you're seeing is related to the service disruption with the Web API that began around the beginning of this month (Sep 2024), but I suspect it might be. Although the service disruption information states data discrepancies or syncing issues with 3P apps and Fitbit, the timing of the Web API issue matches the timing of Fitbit users reporting data discrepancy & syncing issues with their Exercise data and step counts.
I checked the Fitbit Status Dashboard website today (09 Sep 2024) and it still shows the Web API service disruption. Unfortunately, the fix doesn't seem to be an easy one since the issue has been on-going for about a week.
For now, I don't think there's further troubleshooting for us to do. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before the problem is fixed and we see our all data back in the Fitbit app.

Same thing here, same time frame. I just assumed Google screwed it up to make me buy a new device lol.
What adds more frustration is I can't get the data on the web interface either, by phone or PC.

Was trying to sync my history from Google Fit to Fitbit with Health Sync in preparation for switching to a Pixel watch.
Nothing seemed to be showing up on the Fitbit side, assume API issue is the culprit. Hope they fix it soon, bad timing.

If they are having issues with the Web API they should be able to roll back any upgrades. They should not have to wait a week to get this done.
</snark> Maybe they should get a few programmers from Microsoft to come over and fix it for them. </s>

Returning to Fitbit after being away for years not a great impression. First find the web page interface is gone then this API issue with no real news on a resolution.
Hoping they can sort it out by Monday when my Pixel Watch 2 arrives, be nice to be able to be able to sync my history. Anywhere to see updates / progress on service disruptions besides here - https://status.fitbit.com/

Hello penny26 and tmcj001. Thanks for posting this. I have a Fitbit One and have exactly the same problem with the app going back to and starting on 27 August. From that day onwards, each day's data on the app is dumped at midnight, with the exception of the active minutes data, and everything reverts to zero. As the counts increase during the day, those figures, with the exception of the active minutes, are displayed identically for each day back to 27 August 2024. It would appear, however, that while the data is not displaying on the app it is not completely lost and is being stored somewhere as I was able to export/dowload the data by opening the app and going to 'Settings' then 'Manage data and privacy' then selecting 'Export your data' then selecting 'Export a selection of your Fitbit data' whereupon you can choose the period of the data required and the fields required as well as the format: CSV or Microsoft Excel. One can then download the data. That's not a real solution but provides some hope pending a fix by Google. It's been a very frustrating experience for me as the error came up while I was mountain walking in the Alps, covering large mileage, steps, active minutes and, of course, altitude/steps. If all goes wrong I wouldn't replace the Fitbit One with another Fitbit/Google device. I need the steps/altitude count and I don't want to wear a Fitbit/Google device on my wrist. In everyday life I wear a real watch and in the mountains I wear a specialist digital watch with a barometric altimeter as a navigation aid (and a battery life of over a year). Please keep us up to date with any developments. All the best!

Talked to support today asking for an update or ETA on web api fix. Was told could be 3 more weeks.... So around 5 weeks to fix web api, pretty shocking. I agree with PDL01, if it was a bad update they could roll back to working version while coding a fix instead of being broken for month+.
Hard to say what actually broke as they are not saying on support or at https://status.fitbit.com/incidents/D6j3uhKPGKKsJjNoxsp7

Thanks for the info. Same problem here as everyone else has and the same date it started. Using a fitbit one here.

Good to know I’m not going nuts - my problem started on same date, with wildly fluctuating data which isn’t stored. Initially thought it was because I run 2 fitbits on same account (have done for about 5 years with no problems). Interestingly, my weekly email continued to show a record that I think was correct, so no longer being able to access record via website dashboard even more infuriating. I've sorted it for now by discontinuing using my Fitbit One; the Aspire I also use seems to work fine. From the info on here, it looks like most of us are using Ones - cunning ploy to make us upgrade?

Hello @HA1958
Just to let you know, the step issue is affecting several Fitbit devices, including newer devices Charge 5 & 6 as well as Pixel Watch 3, based on the user reports that I've seen.

Had not checked for a few days but at https://status.fitbit.com/ it shows green checkmark so assuming it's resolved.
Health Sync had found a workaround on Sept 11th so I stopped monitoring it, has this resolved issues for others with syncing issues?

Hello @Strode2070
I've seen some users report that they seeing some of their data in the Fitbit app, but the recent issues haven't been fully resolved for everyone.
FWIW, I've seen a couple of users report that Support told them that an update to the Fitbit app should start rolling out on 26 Sep 2024. That said, I haven't seen any information as to what fixes will be in the app update.

Sucks how many folks are having issues 😥 I feel lucky my new Pixel Watch 2 is syncing correctly so far and my history transfer from Google Fit through Health Sync is steadily progressing albeit slowly due to Fitbit api throttle.
Now hopefully my sons new Inspire 3 arriving tomorrow is problem free as well...

I am having the exact same issues with my One device! I also feel the same concerning the One, I will not wear a device on my wrist and I want flights of stairs, altimeter, as well as, step count. I hope they can fix this issue!

And here I thought I was the only one having this issue. I kept thinking it was my fault and was trying to fix it. Was driving myself crazier.....LOL. Tried the app on my cell phone but could not get it to work. Apparently something was not compatible on the phone. I am hooked on the features of the fit bit one. Would even consider buying a new one if they were available new.

Same thing happened to me. Only thing that shows in my history are tracked walks, other than that no steps on any day. I thought it might have been that my Fitbit One is no longer being properly supported by Fitbit

FItbit/Google is killing off the One.
No more pedometers only watches. Too bad. Now I will go back to pencil and paper because Google is killing off a successful product.
