No run data recorded if GPS is not connected

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've been experiencing a weird behavior on my Charge 5.

If I start a running session before the GPS is connected, the Fitbit somehow tracks the run data (distance, duration) anyway. I also get notified lap times pretty correctly. Once I'm finished I stop the session and get notified the summary, correctly again. But when I synch the Fitbit with the app, no trace of my running session is left either on the Fitbit (the only steps and distance displayed on the screen are the ones from before and after the session), or on the app.

Can you please help?

Thanks!

Hello @ale.mo

There is a known issue on the Fitbit side that affects seeing completed exercise data in the Fitbit app. The team is aware of the issue and has been working to fix the problem.

From the user posts I've read, users are noticing that their weekly Fitbit progress email shows the correct number of exercise days, step count, and distance even though they aren't able to see the information in the app. This indicates to me that their data is being uploaded to their account on the Fitbit servers. However, there seems to be some problem between the Fitbit servers and the app where we're not seeing our historical exercise data.

At this point, there isn't any troubleshooting we can recommend since the issue is on Fitbit's side.

That said, there have been several Fitbit app updates to address various issues. So make sure to keep checking the Play Store and install the Fitbit app update when it's available for you.

Hello Rieko,

Thanks a lot for taking the time to provide your feedback!

Having opted out email notifications I had no idea that data could still be somewhere out there on Fitbit servers 🙂 this + it being a known issue give me a little hope that we'll see this solved at some point in time.

Hello @ale.mo

I saw a Moderator post from today (22 Oct 2024) on a thread about missing historical exercise data acknowledging users reporting that the recent app update, version 4.28, didn't fix the problem. Apparently, this update was supposed to include the fix. The Moderator stated that they are notifying support that the issue still exists.

I'm optimistic that the problem will be fixed. Being able to see our completed workout data is such a key function of Fitbits.

If I learn of any updates, I'll report back.

Thanks!
The latest update available to me is still 4.27, anyway. I guess we'll have to wait...
In the meanwhile I reactivated weekly reports and I confirm that data from running sessions invisibile in the app are actually part of the report in my case, as we'll.
Hope this won't take long. I only wear my Fitbit to track my runs, so at the moment it's pretty useless.

Hello @ale.mo

I saw there's a Moderator post from today (23 Oct 2024) announcing version 4.28 for the Android Fitbit app.

The app updates tend to roll out in waves. Keep checking the Play Store for the update. Version 4.28 should be available for you soon.
