No sleep or heart data being recorded

I have a Google Pixel Watch (original) that I bought last May.  Its been working fine but since 18 December it will not record my sleep at all, and although it shows my heart rate on the face, it is not recording the statistics.   It does record my steps so clearly the sensor works? I have restarted my watch several times, synced with phone but nothing changes.

II know to let my watch sense when I fall asleep (initially I made the mistake of using the app to tell it when I was starting and ending) and everything was fine until the last day on 18 December.  Nothing is recording since then (except steps).  The face shows steps and heart rate, but no actual data recording for the heart.  I tried to set the ECG feature up as well but could not find it on my watch once I set it up on phone app.

Any advice?  Should I uninstall the app and then reinstall?  Would that help or hinder?

(For info I dont have premium, but the features I am missing are not related to that).

@Shelle02 have you have received the most recent Pixel Watch update? Are all the apps on your Watch updated, as well as the Fitbit and Watch apps on your phone?

If you've done all that and the problems persist, open the Watch app on your phone. Scroll down to "Tips & Support" and select that. Tap on "Send Feedback" and give as much detail as you can. The developers read that feedback and it's our best shot at getting this fixed. You aren't the only one experiencing issues with sleep tracking recently.

Thanks for your reply.

I think I have watch and phone both updated.  I did go through the process on my watch and do system update a couple of times but couldnt see any change.  Will leave it overnight to see if it captures my sleep and also heart rates and if it doesnt then I will send feedback as requested.  Many thanks.

Hello @Shelle02

Do you see a green light on the back of your Pixel watch? The green light is the heart rate sensor. If you don't see a green light, that would indicate to me that you have a defective device.

@alexthecat I think that has done the trick thank you!  I left it for two days, it recorded my sleep for the first time as well as giving me data on heart rate.  It was up to date seemingly but pressed system updates a few times and it eventually started to do another update which then led to my first night sleep record.  Interestingly last night whilst charging my watch up it did another update, but it has continued to record everything so I think it is all fixed (other than the new layouts etc are weird and need to get used to it!).  Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it 🙂
