Notifications work on Inspire, not on Blaze

Hello.  I'm unable to get call, message and app notifications on my Blaze.  I do receive them on my Inspire.  I have a Galaxy 9+ Android phone.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled the fitbit app many times.  Removed and reconnected Blaze to app and to Bluetooth many times.  Restarted phone and Blaze many times.  Checked permissions, followed articles, etc.  Can you please narrow down what the difference might be when an Inspire gets the notifications, but the Blaze does not?  It does appear that the app and the Blaze device do talk to each other otherwise just fine.  The Blaze does report steps and other info to the app. I am able to change the face of the Blaze using the app.  Thanks.

Hi @CM_in_CA. Welcome on board! I'm sorry for my delayed response.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and the troubleshooting steps tried. This sounds strange as your Blaze should get notifications as long as it's setup and connected via Bluetooth. To work on this together, I'd recommend to try the following steps in the given order to see its behavior:

  1. Remove the Blaze from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Take your Inspire to another room and turn off other Bluetooth connections that aren't in use.
  3. On your phone's settings, tap on Apps > Fitbit > Storage > Clear Cache.
  4. Go back, tap on force stop, reboot your phone and restart your Blaze one more time.
  5. On your Blaze, hold the top right button for 3 seconds and turn on the notifications.
  6. Open the Fitbit app and setup your Blaze as a new device.
  7. Once it's connected, configure the notifications and monitor them.

Let me know how everything goes.

I followed the instructions. As a precaution, I removed all my bluetooth devices. The test call did notify my Blaze. Woohoo! I'd like to test further notifications and add my home and work bluetooth devices back systematically over the next few days to be sure the Blaze notifications keep working. It's looking good so far! I'll check back in in a few days. Thank you!

My trials have found that I can only receive notifications on my Blaze when my Inspire is unpaired from the fitbit app. Otherwise, I either get no notifications to either device or only the Inspire receives the notification.  Even if I launch the call notification test through the Blaze settings, only the Inspire receives it.  If I turn notifications off on the Inspire device itself and turn off notifications for the Inspire in the app, the Blaze still won't receive notifications until I totally unpair the Inspire.  I would expect the switches in the app and on the device to control which device receives the notification and that it would not be necessary to unpair the Inspire in order for the Blaze to receive notifications. I wouldn't think that this is working as designed.  Can you provide instructions as to how I might keep both paired, but receive notification on my Blaze?  Thank you.

Hi @CM_in_CA. I'm glad to see you here again.

Thanks for keeping me posted about this situation, as well for trying the steps posted above. Currently on Android phones, the notifications will appear on either one of your Fitbit devices that are in range or one of them by default. I'm sorry for this inconvenience as I understand how useful will be this feature for you. While this feature isn't available be sure that your comments will help our team to work our devices and overall environment to enhance your experience with them.

I'll be around if you need anything else.
