Order of the information in the Fitbit app

Love my Alta HR but this latest update is finally the straw that broke the camel's back of my relationship with Fitbit after 6 years.

- Sleep scores are worthless, as covered in other threads

- Notifications switch at random between "none at all" and "abrupt deluge", probably related to...

- Enormous syncing issues over Bluetooth with the Android app. Even manually syncing takes me about 8 tries now to get it to actually sync, and it typically does not sync unless I manually sync it

- Sleep graph is broken in multiple areas (both the main view on the app and the sleep-specific view) if you manually edit sleep, as is sometimes necessary

- The button to renew challenges from the challenge screen doesn't work 95% of the time. This will be the last week of challenges for me because I'm tired of manually adding people to a new challenge vs just clicking the Rematch button

This doesn't factor into me looking for Fitbit alternatives, but the challenges showing up before all my personal information (you know, the thing I actually wear Fitbit to track) unless I manually re-order them each and every time is also obnoxious.

Although I don't have all these issues @caterpillar mentions, I have to say that the last one is really a huge misstep on the design of the Fitbit app.

"...the challenges showing up before all my personal information (you know, the thing I actually wear Fitbit to track) unless I manually re-order them each and every time is also obnoxious."

Our personal information MUST stay on top (and always before the challenges) if we choose so ! Having to scroll down so many lines of challenges just to see our basic and most important info, is horrendous ! No matter how many times we edit the order, the challenges always come up on top with any new update (within the challenges).

@LizzyFitbit , @Odyssey13
Would you be kind enough to ask the devs if this is like that by design (on purpose) or just a bug that hasn't been fixed (yet) ? Thank you in advance.

Most of my personal information shows at the top without editing.

I never do those. Are they above or below the obnoxiously unkillable tips that take up 33% of the screen in "get bent" red?

Haha, below the tips and the step count, but above everything else like water, weight lost, etc.

@LostEchoes  I have re-sequenced my Dashboard to have the Challenges at the bottom. All you do is tap the Edit option in the top RH corner, then drag the items using the two lines to where you want them and then Save.

@Colinm39
Thank you for your detailed feedback.
The issue we' re having is not with the "Activity items", but with the "Today items".
No matter how many times we edit the dashboard and move the ones we want (the important ones such as Heart rate, Sleep, Weight, Exercise, Hourly steps) on top (of the "Today's list"), they always end up at the bottom of the list when we participate in new ongoing challenges, Goal Days, Adventure Trails, etc.
So, I think what everyone might mean here, is that these Today items contain info that is much more important than the challenges, so we should have an option for them to stick on top (either right below or on top of the Activity items).
Screenshot_20191007-072353_Fitbit.jpg

I've now tried a new approach. I have moved the above-mentioned important Today items above even the "Activity" line. I'm curious to see if this order will remain like this.
2Screenshot_20191007-073842_Fitbit.jpg

However, I would still prefer to have the choice for this order (to be able to stick and not change):
1) Activity (Steps / Cals / Active Mins/ Distance) - sticky
2) HR / Sleep / Weight / Exercise / Steps per hour - sticky
3) Challenges (always below 2, but changing their order between them as they are updated).

@LostEchoes  I'm having no issues when I move the items.. I can place some activities among the Challenges, Reorder Activities, remove them and put them back, put Challenges among activities etc

The image below shows me splitting some of the items on the App.. I have also placed an image to show how you can change the size..

BUT... That's through the Web Dashboard.. Fitbit fiddled with the App image upload and it is now cumbersome and blobby for images, unless I have an issue trying to work it out.

But to clarify where I'm coming from.... I never have any of the Android issues others have on the App and Syncing. This makes it difficult to help others and when I do try to help I get "shot" down..

Thanks for the feedback.
My issue is on the mobile app.
I have now reordered again the items the way I want them to be. Let's hope this time they will stay in that order - I will update the post in a few hours / days.

Here we go again. The order I set lasted only for a few hours. Once some challenges were completed, they moved by themselves on top, thus moving and "hiding" the most important items to the bottom.

Here is the order I had set in the beginning:
Screenshot_20191007-132531_Fitbit.jpgScreenshot_20191007-132537_Fitbit.jpgScreenshot_20191007-132545_Fitbit.jpgScreenshot_20191007-174756_Fitbit.jpg

And here is how they ended up a few hours later:

So, here is clear conformation that something is wrong with the app regarding the order of the items.

@LostEchoes  wouldn't it make sense that when a challenge is completed and the winner is announced, that it pops up first? Congrats on winning the Valley Loop. Hope you get enough rest!

Haha, yeah thanks.
I still don't think that my win on the Valley Loop adventure is more important than my HR, Sleep, and the similar stats. We should have an option for this.
One sticky area (where we would be able to put what's important for us) and one other area where the stats would be able to move around according to their updates / status.

The only way to do this right now is by putting the HR, Exercise, Hourly steps, Sleep and Weight on top of the Activity panel and get this setup (see screenshots below) which is kind of ugly and non functional, as we are all used to have the condensed "Activity" panel on top. Now it's not on top and it does not "work" for me, when I want to view my info.

@Odyssey13 It now begs the question... Is my App faulty because when my Challenges finish they don't gravitate to the top, they stay where they are.?

I have just rearranged my Dashboard to change what I set for my earlier post. In the hours elapsed since that post nothing changed.

I'm on App 3.7 and didn't have the shifting issue on the earlier releases.

I have adjusted mine to show all the activity at the top. By tomorrow, I'll know if it sticks. Android 9, Samsung Galaxy 8 and version 3.7 of the app.

@Odyssey13 We will compare notes tomorrow..

I always have 10 Challenges, mostly the daily, weekly and weekend.  The trails come occasionally.

Just to clarify things:
The condensed "Activity panel" (the green one, with the  Daily Steps, Cals, Mins, distance) does stay sticky at the top, if you put it there (by selecting the non colored "Activity" Today Item and placing it at the top of the Today items).
Screenshot_20191007-132531_Fitbit.jpgScreenshot_20191007-174756_Fitbit.jpg

The problem is what happens under that.
The red ones: HR, Exercise, Hourly steps, Weight and Sleep, do not stay where you put them.
It seems that the "non colored" "Activity" Today item considers "challenges" as ...activities (which is ok) and rearranges them by putting them on top (of the red items) as they are updated (which is not ok). At the end of the day, you find yourself having half of the important info at the bottom, with this order:
1) Green Activity panel with steps, cals, min, distance
2) Challenges, Daily step goals, adventures
3) HR, Exercise, Hourly steps, Weight, Sleep at the very bottom.

As I said before, the only way to keep (3) from dropping to the bottom is by placing it on top of everything.
This means that you end up with this order:
1) HR, Exercise, Hourly steps, Weight, Sleep at the very top.
2) Green Activity panel with steps, cals, min, distance
3) Challenges, Daily step goals, adventures
Which is probably not really the ideal solution, right? (it seems cluttered).

The ideal (considering the importance of the info we need to see first + a non cluttered main app page) would be this (remaining sticky)
1) Green Activity panel with steps, cals, min, distance
2) HR, Exercise, Hourly steps, Weight, Sleep

3) Challenges, Daily step goals, adventures (re-ordering only within this 3rd area as they are updated)

I hope now I'm clear.
Sorry for my English, it's not my native language.

An email just came in stating another Challenge so I went into the App.

That new lone Challenge was between the Activity Stats and the red items. Everything else remained.

I accepted the Challenge and had to edit my sequencing.

The first time that has happened to me so we need a response from Fitbit on how this App works with the items.  @LizzyFitbit

I have been mozzed......

All of my Challenges are now at the top of the queue, behind the Activity stats..

I have been on V3.7  for 5 days... no issues, and suddenly I have the problem.

There has to be a setting somewhere.

Fitbit please respond....
