PW2 heart rate data only is logging incorrect time in Fitbit app

I recently traveled overseas and now my PW2 heart rate data is logging incorrect time in Fitbit app - 8hrs behind. Everything else is in sync with the phone and watch and logging correct time: calories, step count, activities etc. Fitbit app setting are correct, it's just the heart rate logs. I tried unlinking and factory resetting watch, and signing out and reinstalling Fitbit app. nothing seems to work.

Hello @dwight00

That's weird that all your other data has the correct times, except your heart rate logs.

I take it that you already tried turning off automatic location & time zone in the Fitbit app, then turning them back on. By any chance, have you tried manually selecting your location & timezone in the Fitbit app to see if that corrects the time in your heart rate logs?

Although I'm not sure that this will work, you could try clearing the storage for the Fitbit app on your phone. I recommended doing a sync before clearing the app's storage. After you clear the storage, do a force stop, then re-open the app. You will need to log back into the app after clearing the storage.

No luck. I tried manually selecting the wrong time zone and then switching to the correct or current (from phone). Did the same with location. Even deleting the current days heartrate data didn't work.

The only thing I see is off is in the Fitbit app / Fitbit settings / Date, time & units / location / set the location automatically says "from your phone: United States." but, my phone settings are correct, and manually selecting Indonesia still doesn't fix this. Even so, Fitbit settings / Date, time & units / Timezone / set automatically from my phone is correct.

...My current timezone is GMT +8, which could explain the 8hrs discrepancy. The heartrate data is logging GMT +00:00.

Hello @dwight00

Just to let you know, I got an update for the Fitbit app on my Pixel Watch 3 today. If you haven't installed it yet, please check the watch's Play Store app for the update.

Please let us know if the update to the Pixel Watch's Fitbit app fixed the issue you're seeing.

I'm still having the bug on version 4.40 which is said to be the latest version.

Hello @dwight00

That's the current version for the Fitbit app on your phone.

I'm referring to the Fitbit app on your Pixel Watch. My watch is showing app version 3.31.3.742797718.release.

  • Go to the Settings gear on your watch
  • Swipe up & tap on Apps & Notifications
  • Swipe up & tap on App Info
  • Swipe up & tap on System Apps
  • Swipe up to Fitbit and tap. You should see the app version on the screen that opens

Hello @dwight00

Thanks for confirming the Fitbit app version on your watch.

By any chance, have you tried adding your Pixel Watch as a new device to the Fitbit app? You don't need to delete the watch first.

  • Tap on the device icon in the upper left of the Today page in the Fitbit app
  • Tap on Add more devices and select your Pixel Watch from the list
  • Proceed with setting up the Pixel Watch as a new device

Out of curiosity, did you use a VPN when you traveled? I've read where users who travel experience timezone issues due to the VPN.

I've tried reconnecting PW2 with no success. no VPN. seems more likely a
bug considering it's defaulting to GMT 0:00
