Pixel 4 watch/Fitbit calibration

I am 7 ft tall and I cannot get my Pixel 4/Fitbit to accurately record my distance. Treadmill says 3.3 miles, Fitbit says 2.56 miles. Fitbit says ,5670 steps. I have my stride length in Fitbit set as 3' 10". Based on those numbers my stride should be 3' maybe 3' 1". So, if anything, Fitbit should say I walked further that 3.3 miles, but if is as the stride used is for a stride of about 2' 4 (The average)

Can anyone help set up my Fitbit/Pixel 4 be more accurate?

Is it something to do with GPS being on?

Thanks

Hi @TheTallBrit   Starting with the basics, it is nearly impossible to get a treadmill distance to agree with a PW/Fitbit.  A treadmill distance comes from the measured belt distance.  PW/Fitbit uses a steps x stride length.  I know that Fitbit uses your walk stride length in the Treadmill Exercise.  This is an overall average stride length.  Your speed and any added angle will change your step mechanics.  The way I understand it, the two distances should be the closest if you are walking level at 3 mph.

That being said, I agree that your measured Fitbit distance is off.  I've seen some reports from other users about this type of distance discrepancy.  @alexthecat  -- can you comment on any current distance discrepancy (bug) with distance and the PW/Android app?

GPS on/off doesn't make a difference.  Treadmill distance is virtual and GPS shouldn't even be available as a setting option for that shortcut.

@LZeeW Pixel Watch has some issues with tracking distances for treadmill and other stationary activities. It's not necessarily a bug, but more a limitation of the technology. This article has a discussion about optimizing the Pixel Watch. It contains some tips that may be useful.

Thank you for the link.
It was an interesting read, but my stride is set correctly.
The app taking all these other readings as factors in it's calculation
whilst on a treadmill is unnecessary. If I select treadmill as my exercise
just using stride x step is very accurate.
Look at the numbers I provided. This happens every time I'm on a treadmill.

Can this logic (when treadmill selected, Distance = Stride x Steps) be
added to the app?

Thanks.

@TheTallBrit a problem that some users seem to be seeing is that they set their stride length correctly and the app seems to disregard that and use a default value. I don't know of a timeline for a fix for that. I would definitely recommend reporting this problem in the app. That will get it in front of the eyes of the developers.

There is a new app that is currently in Public Preview. I hope some of these legacy issues will get fixed with that app, but I have no knowledge of that.
