Pixel watch 3 - steps on watch are 3k steps more on the app

My pixel watch has been showing more steps on the watch than the Android app on pixel 7a.  The interesting thing is that 3rd party apps are showing the correct amount of steps shown on watch.    I have premium if that matters.   Extremely annoying. If anyone knows how to correct it. Please let me know.  Thx

Have you tried restarting your watch and phone?

Are the apps on your watch and phone updated?
