Problems moving an account to google

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a fitbit account on an older phone, It is not my main one with the charge 6. This one connects to a zip. The place (or gear) is not there, There is no link in 'settings' to do this. The version is 3.4.1 on an android 6 retired phone. The application works for what I need it to do, The application can't be upgraded beyond this version. Question: Is it possible this version is not movable? If it is not possible, I guess I'll let it get deleted unless I score another newer free decommissioned phone before the deadline. If it can be moved, where in this version do I find the move 'link'?

Also, for anyone looking me up with the google account signed in here, this is not the account in question. It is a different account. I still prefer the old fitbit connect on a windows PC, but it went away. I'm not a fan of phone OS's and the screens are too small. But that's what is offered and I have to accept it.

Hi, @roadrat, welcome. Which OS are you running on your Pixel 6 phone (your older retired phone!!)? You'll see from Fitbit setup requirements - Help, you'll need Android 10 or newer to operate the present Fitbit app. This progresses without notice from time to time, so you need to consider something newer. I'm not familiar with the legacy "Zip" but you might find an answer to your question at  Zip - Fitbit Community

I'm running A Pixel 8 Pro with Android 16 and Fitbit 4.48, this is my transfer screen -

Which allows transfer to a "Zip".

I hope this helps.

Cheers

It's android version 6. The phone is from 2014.Fitbit version 3.4.1.

I don't have any more extra phones other than this old one because the newer retired 3G phone running android 9 dropped and broke the screen. This version was installed before they quit supporting Android 9, Not worth fixing. Basically, I use the old phones as tablets.

Since there are no other replies, I assume this move to google on this device is not supported or no one knows how..

@roadrat   I think I read your post different from @Gr4ndp4.  You need the Fitbit app on a device that supports Android 11 or higher to upgrade that Fitbit account.  But you can't upgrade it to the same Google account that you use for your Charge 6.  You need a separate Google account.  You can't merge accounts.

I might be wrong, but It sounds like you created a Google account when you got your Charge 6.  Unfortunately, that step created this issue.  You should have logged in to the Fitbit app with your Fitbit email/password on your current phone, migrated that account to a Google account, THEN added your Charge 6 to your account.

You might not have another old phone to use as a tablet, but Android wi-fi only tablets aren't super expensive.

The google transfer with the charge 6 application went well when I still had the charge 5 on it last year. The charge 5 would go to a Fitbit logo loop mode when I would walk outside in the hot. I would put it in the refrigerator and it would come back. Got tired of this and used insurance rewards to get the charge 6. No problems there.

I also have multiple google logins for different reasons. None were created recently.

The problem happened when another phone I was using dropped and the screen broke. This uses a zip, which I think is more accurate on step count since the charges would run higher counts when cutting grass or doing aerobic things like splitting logs or doing woodwork. I cut multiple yards and do lots of landscaping. I took this old phone and loaded what it would accept, This happened to be 3.4.1, It had me create a Fitbit login, which I did. Right now, I can log in and it syncs steps to the application as designed. Since the Fitbit logins will no longer be supported soon, I figured I would have to transfer this fitbit login to one of my other google logins,

Only this version, 3.4.1, does not seem to have the capability to do so. I just wanted to know if it is not possible to use this version beyond the cutoff or if there was a different way to do this since there is no gear icon for settings, There is a settings menu on this version but the upgrade option is not there, If it isn't possible, that's fine. I just want to know for sure. Eventually, I may come up with another phone someday and just start over with a new login. I wish they would have a windows or Linux application to use on a PC, I have plenty of those.

I also didn't know you needed android 11 to get the application from the play store. I thought it was 10. When did that change?

Also, the cheaper tablets don't always have a full android OS and full access to the Google play where the Fitbit application can be downloaded and installed.
