Sadly none of the recent "solutions" of which I use the wore loosely given this problem looks to lie with Fitbit and their software/technology, and it didn't work for me.
However oddly enough every 3rd or maybe 4th phone call my Versa will now vibrate, but wont show who's calling and I have yet to date, receive a single text notification to the Versa.
This is unfortunate as the device looked like it had potential. I guess I will give it another week and after to see if a resolution can be found and after that it is going back to the the store.
Cheers

I'm glad you got it to work. It should work till you restart or reboot your phone. Fitbit engineering should take a look at the Fitbit Notification Service permission. Seems like it's not sticking. We shouldn't have to keep doing this.

Sucking is an understatement given mine still doesn't work. Given some of the main use of a Smartwatch is text and calling you would think Fitbit would spend some time on this problem.

Tried this on 2 different days. Still not working
Update:
The notifications are STILL a mess. Can someone please post an update? The Fitbit CEO and CTO should issue a video apology for all of the notification problems. I've never had issues with the Alta.
Just spent an hour on the phone with 3 people to tell me the "engineers are working on it"
Stop wasting everyone's time - including yours and post a notice on relevant forums saying "sorry, update messed up for lots of androids. try again in 24 hours from today"
Nobody cares about the engineers "working on it." That's their job. I don't ask the police if they're "working on it" when they are solving crimes. It's their job.

There is not one bloody word in their sales blabla about syncing or compatibility issues their "support" is parroting here. That's the problem. People are not warned to check compatibility before they buy the products.
Or development / testing / support dept. are rubbish and cannot keep up at least with new flagship android phones.
Fitbit is clearly out of sync with the real mobile device market.

This is now pending for a long time. When is Fitbit going to resolve this issue? Totally disappointed with the service and response being offered. My phone model is Redmi Note 4

I am also getting the error message and nothing I do is any help. I restarted the phone, force.stopped the app, did everything including checking all the settings constantly, even uninstalled and reinstalled the app . Fitbit sent me a new device because of this issue, it works for a short while then stops. This should not be this difficult

I think it might be fixed. For the very first time in the last few months, my fitbit vibrated with phone call notification. I am also not seeing the error message anymore. I'd suggest monitoring for the next few days to make sure it's working right.
