Fitbit Update: 8/23/18

Hey, everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience. We really appreciate your cooperation while we released the Fitbit for Android app version 2.77. It has been fully released to everyone, so please go to the Google Play Store and download it as soon as you can!

Many of you that already updated have confirmed you see your real-time heart rate back in the Fitbit app and that your steps/calories are updating. I will leave this thread open in case anyone has any issues, but I hope you are all set after updating. Thanks for all your help!

Fitbit Update: 8/21/18

Hi, Everybody!

Today, we started releasing the Fitbit for Android app version 2.77. Please check the Google Play store on your phone to see if the update is available to you. We roll out Android updates progressively, so if you don't see it available to you right now it will be there soon.

Fitbit Update 8/16/18:

Hi everyone - The fix for this issue will be out in our next app release which you can expect within the next 2 weeks.

We will provide an update in this thread once it has been released. Thanks again for all your patience and cooperation.

Fitbit Update 8/13/18:

Fitbit Update 8/9/18: Hi everyone. Thanks for taking the time to report this issue here on the Android forum. I've passed your reports along to our engineering team so they can begin investigating. From what I've gathered, this issue is app specific and not affecting the Fitbit web dashboard (which is correctly showing all activity data as expected). To keep thing organized, I've merged several threads to this one.

I appreciate your patience and am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. In the meantime, I welcome you to continue sharing your experiences here. In the meantime, you can view your current stats on the Fitbit web dashboard by logging into your account at fitbit.com

When I hear something new, I'll be sure to update the thread with the latest info. Robot Happy

I seem to be having a slightly different problem than others. Since August 13, 2018, my tracker shows the steps each day but nothing shows in the app or on the web.

A message displays working to fix issue with android app as shows zero etc. My iconic synced this morning at 08:30 and fails to update, I presume this is due to the maintenance underway ? My concern is, doesn't show my updated stats via the tile nor the Web page. And will I lose my loooooonnnngggg hard swim, cycle and run I've done today? It shows the basic stats on my phone, but scared I won't be able to sync (manual or regular) to strava and lose these achievments... When will fix be complete?

Best Answer

Clicking into the tile to show my stats as Fitbit suggests does not show my step count . It displayes ZERO! It's been awhile with this issue. Whats going on Fitbit?

My fitbit flex still isnt syncing, I have only been able to sync once a day and that with a manual sync, last one was yesterday (20th) at 7:30pm. I have also tried to login to the website and none of my data is showing up there either .

Is the LG phones ever going to work with the versa. I got my LG phone on the 4th of August and it synced fine in the beginning. But since yersterday I have to restart my phone uninstall the app and restart the versa to try and get one sync a day its so annoying.

I think that because the LG mobiles aren't on the list of approved phones for the FitBit app, we were always going to struggle. I looked into it before deciding to get the Versa (I already owned my LG G5) and found that most people had no problem but generally they had to force a sync. That's exactly what I've been doing a couple of times a day.

However once this recent issue began we were bound to be worse off. Now it doesn't sync at all.

BUT, thanks to someone on this forum, I've found a workaround and got it going again, for now.

I uninstalled the app from my phone, then went to a particular website where you can download old versions of apps. I reinstalled the version I first put on my phone in May (because I KNOW it worked), then went into the play store and disabled 'auto install app updates' (or something similarly worded). If you don't do that, then your phone will just automatically overwrite this working old version with the dodgy new one.

Then I had to remove my FitBit from the app, restore my phone to factory settings, and add it again as a new device. Took a while, but it works!

I've had just one notification on my phone telling me there's a new version of the software available and do I want to install it. I said no, and it's gone away.

Also, because your fitness tracking history is stored on their servers and not on your phone or in the FitBit itself, I got almost everything back. The only stuff I'm missing is the past two days while it's been down.

So far, so good!

It worked! Thank you!

I see the issue on these threads,  it says that if you click on the tile it will still display the steps. Mine will not. Says last synced 8/10. Did the update, have a Samsung galaxy 6.

Are you really proposing an app version that is reportedly buggy?

Not a good idea, I suppose.

Just download an older version like 2.74.2 to your android phone. Uninstall the current fitbit app and install the downloaded one.

You just need to log on and you are good to go. It works like a charm and since then:

No battery drainage on phone

Accurate GPS tracking

No connection issues

Live heart rate in app

All data is synced perfectly

Keep in mind to disable auto update in the Google play store

I managed it!

But it hasn't worked. Still the same - no data for the past couple of days and it won't sync. Actually it *says* it's synced, but nothing transferred.

I'm going to uninstall the device and add as new. What's done is done - I need this to be working moving forwards, more than in the past.

Hi @GeordieGill

I'm not sure about 2.74.4 - I haven't tried it. I tried 2.74.2 which works for me (Charge 2 with OP6 phone). Maybe try again, uninstall the app and install 2.74.2. After install, be sure to untick 'Enable auto-update' ('3 dots' in top-right corner) for that app in Google Play to prevent app auto-update itself.

Good luck 😉

Update: Oops! I posted above before I realised @GeordieGill eventually got it sorted! So please ignore this post!

Where did you go to download the previous version?

Synced my fitbit today, my activity today on fitbit shows 1596 steps - correct, and after sync the dashboard shows 7396 steps for today. Turned off bluetooth to avoid sync, but this needs to be fixed. I mean just reverse to your previous version at least, until you have a fix that you are ready to deploy

Device: Pixel 2 XL running latest Android 9
