Can't rotate to landscape mode

I have the same issue on my Samsung Galaxy tab S - only started this morning. I uninstalled the app and re-installed it. Whilst it still would not rotate like before (which is more frustrating than I can emphasise without being rude!) I did get the extra squares with the additional tiles in as shown by USAF-Larry, but then when I next opened it, they had disappeared again.I really would like to go back to having the ability to go back to landscape view on my tab, even if it means scrolling down to view additional tiles. Portrait view is no good to me as I cannot connect the charger, unless it is allowed to rotate to allow me to turn the tab upside down in portrait. I am getting neck ache with this now. Coupled with the flaky sync ability, I am really losing faith in Fitbit!

Hi everyone -- Landscape mode only being available in the Sleep Graph view is expected behavior since the release of the Fitbit App for Android, version 2.45.

Same here using a Galaxy Tab S.  There was an update to the Fitbit app and I lost all the tiles except the main ones across the top but the rest would appear when I turned the tablet into landscape mode.  Yesterday there was another update and I'm thinking, "Hurray, they fixed it", only to find out that now it doesn't do landscape mode and the tiles are still gone.  Now I'm back to the old dashboard - again.

The latest dashboard is useless for my purposes!
I cannot display 'sleep' at all and on my Galaxy Tab A.
It now no longer rotates to landscape mode to allow access to tiles that
are not accessible in portrait mode as it did a few days ago!
So I am forced to revert to the 'old' dashboard to access to the features I
use!
Anyone got any ideas?
Please fitbit sort this out!! The latest dashboard is useless!!

Since a recent update a few days ago, the dashboard on my Samsung Tab4 is sideways. Makes it difficult to use. It was landscape, and is now portrait and sideways.

Can I resolve this?

Thanks

...and it's stopped syncing AGAIN!! WHY??

Best Answer

@cloister, I moved this thread to the Android App Help Forum - it is a problem with the app and not the tracker hardware.

Hi There,

Both my husband and I have a Charge HR.  We both use the Android App on our Samsung cell phones.  Today we noticed, after a bunch of various app updates, that FitBit will no longer auto-rotate or rotate at all on our cell phones or our tablets.

Did someone think this was a "feature"??  Tell me it's a bug because if it's a "feature", it's a very poorly thought out one.

Thanks much,

Sue!

Why can't I see the dashboard in Landscape view? I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. Is it too much to get this app working properly and then leave it alone?? I've had nothing but trouble, particularly with syncing, and NO ONE seems to be able to give me an answer!

Hey everyone -- Thanks for taking the time to report this.

I have followed up with our Product Specialist team who will be looking into the root cause and providing me with an update that I will in turn share with everyone here. Hoping to have something to share with you all soon. Again, thanks for the reports and for your continued patience.

This was an issue being discussed in another thread, but the moderator closed it for some reason. This issue is not resolved:

When FitBit updated the app to 2,46, the new dashboard stopped displaying in landscape mode on various user's tablets, including mine. The 2.47 update did not resolve this issue. Can someone please answer this: Are the developers working on returning the new dashboard to its prior capability of displaying in landscape mode, as it did before the 2.46 update? I use a Galaxy Tab A.

No...it isnt resolved for sure ...My Samsung tab s2 will not go to landscape or show times of sleep interruptions and awake even even with this upgrade.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  Funny when I go to the old dashboard the sleep pattern does go to landscape and it shows the times when you touch the bars....

Has there been any update or progress on this issue, as it is highly frustrating - particularly when a few updates ago, the rotation to landscape was possible. Can someone explain why this facility was removed? Thanks.

Will it work in landscape mode on tablets, like it did before the 2.46 update?

Can you please explain why this is, since landscape is preferred for tablets by many users, and it was enabled in a previous version. Thank you.

After a bizarre email exchange with FitBit support, they finally responded to my question about landscape view with this:

"We understand how it may be frustrating to know that a feature which you were accustomed to has been removed. We've escalated your case and we received a response specific to your question regarding the landscape mode. Please see below.

Landscape mode has been removed from the Android tablet experience for 2.45. There are currently no plans to bring this feature back to tablets."

I also asked why that function was removed, and they did not say.

To the app developers: Tablets are much bigger devices than phones. It's much easier to hold a phone in your hand in portrait view. My tablet cover flips open to become a stand for it, and the stand props it up in landscape. If I am forced to use portrait view, I have to hold my tablet up with one hand. This can be very awkward, depending on what I'm doing. I urge you to reconsider your decision to remove the landscape function. I use the FitBit app primarily on my tablet because of my eyesight. I'm sure I'm not the only one who prefers using the app on a tablet.

That is just not good enough in my eyes. Come in Fit Bit, you owe your customers an explanation, please don't just take their money and run!!

And while you are at it, please remove the "solved" status from this post, as it is definitely NOT solved!

What also adds insult to injury is when I wake up my tab screen in landscape mode, if I happen to be in my fitbit dashboard, it hovers for about 3 seconds in landscape, before turning sideways to portrait mode. For those few initial seconds, it looks fine, all the icons are there, so Fitbit, what is your problem here in keeping landscape mode active?

Same on IOS, come on honour LANDSCAPE MODE.

Hi,

I'm sorry, that is not a solution. That is a statement. The fact is, there is no good reason in this day and age that we should be forced into an orientation for the general app. I don't believe it happens in Win 10 or iOS so why is Android the poor relation when it comes to functionality? It is by far the biggest platform for apps.
