Reset steps Fitbit app on Samsung S8+

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have the Fitbit app that I sync with my MyFitnessPal app and I noticed that it is not resetting the step count.  Its continuing from yesterday.  My timezone is already set to Automatic that much I have already made sure by reading some of the other posts, but that is not working.

Suggestions, please!

Thank you

Hi, @bbryantstepp , it does happen very occasionally that Fitbit steps do not reset at midnight.  A common reasons for this happening is if you change time zone (in that case it is actually better NOT to have auto timezone).  It also could happen if you were updating the tracker around midnight.

Very occasionally this can happen for no obvious reason.  Somehow the Fitbit never receives the cue to reset (a bit like when your computer suddenly freezes and then spontaneously recovers... for Fitbit, if this sort of “freeze” happened just at midnight, your steps might not reset.) In almost all cases this problem will right itself the next midnight and all will be well moving forward.

If you were travelling at the time, let us know and we can give you tips to prevent it happening in the future.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the forums!

I can't get an accurate step count if the thing doesn't reset.  So I have downloaded another app, and hopefully it will work better then Fitbit.  It seems like this is an on going problem and the tech people or whoever might think about getting this bug fixed...

Hi, @bbryantstepp , this is something that happens very, very occasionally.  Is it happening to you often? Or is this the first time?

I have used a Fitbit daily for more than 5 years.  I think it has happened to me 3 times - once when I was travelling and did not understand how to prevent it (since I change time zones often I now know how to prevent it and always keep auto timezone OFF when travelling).  A second time was when there was a known bug, which has now been fixed. It only happened once without explanation, and I assume it was just one of those glitches that all electronic devices get when they suddenly go off line.  Once in 5.5 years is not so bad...

There is no current known bug that anyone is working on.

If this is happening to you regularly then please give us more details so that someone can help you address this!
