Run times not showing seconds

Good morning,

I have recently started using fitbit, which the intention of using it to track run and swim times. However once I finish recording the run, and try to view it in the app, the time is only shown in minutes. I'm not sure why this is the default view, as seconds are important for passing fitness tests.

I've checked the app settings, and searched online, where it appears people had this issue a few years ago too, but I couldn't find anything which offered a solution.

Please advise on how to view run and swim times accurately on the app, showing my times in minutes and seconds, rather than just minutes.

Inspire 2 and Samsung android if it makes any difference.

Thanks.

Hi, @Tommy_running, welcome to the community, this is a noted feature with the new Fitbit app. Your best option is to visit the "Product Feedback" board, use the search bar and get your voice heard by voting for the suggestion you feel merits your vote.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Thank you for the response @Gr4ndp4.

So as I understand it, the ability to view run time in seconds simply does not exist within the app? I can't help but feel that it is madness that I'd have to vote on what is essentially just a stopwatch to include seconds, and frankly not worth the time.

In this case I'm not sure it is fit for purpose, so I think that unfortunately I'll be sending my fitbit back in exchange for something else, such as a Garmin.

Thanks again for your help, I'm just shocked if this is the outcome!

That's completely ridiculous we need to vote for it as a "feature", can't everyone from the "team" see that? Fitbit/google sell fitness watches that do not count seconds. That's an absurd. Every respectful company would apologise for the bug and release a patch as quick as possible but you want us to vote for a "new" feature? Not to mention it was counting seconds pre update and no one ever questioned that. It only shows how out of touch Fitbit/Google is now.

Don't expect seconds to be back, they were removed in October's update 4.0, two updates forward (4.06) and the are still no seconds added. I have never seen a fitness tracker that wouldn't do seconds. Even my microwave can do that.

@LukaszGlaza this shows that developers are certainly not users of Fitbit products if such bugs (or worse, design decisions) go into the released product. The same happened to editing/logging lap swimming where now distance is in kilometers/miles 🤦and yes, before, in the old app, it was correct (meters/yards). Whoever makes those decisions has clearly no idea about sports tracking. Maybe, if that "feature" comes back, the next Fitbit should have it on the box: "shows activity duration with seconds" as a selling point 🤣 But this isn't the only case when Fitbit doesn't quite understand measuring time/duration of activity. Look at the stopwatch app on the watch itself. It has seconds but not milliseconds (or hundreths of second, which is a level of precission essential for stopwatches 🤷).

Whoever makes these decisions not only has no idea about sports tracking but also lacks any common sense.

That's what I'm saying. How this can be a suggestion you need to vote for while it's just a fundamental fitness tracker function to measure time down to seconds not just minutes, it should be there by default. And it was, up to 3.9 version of the app.

You'd think the makers of a exercise SMARTwatch wouldn't have to be told that a runner would need to know the full time of a training/competitive run INCLUDING SECONDS in the handiest way possible.

I was able to find the seconds for a run by logging into my account on the Fitbit web site. I shouldn't have to go to the web site for important information like the complete time of a run. I guess I should be grateful I can still get it off the web site after running.
