Samsung S5 Mini can't find new Charge 2 (x-post from "Android App" forum)

(Post was getting no attention over in the other forum)

Just had a Charge 2 bought for me for Christmas and can't get it to sync with my Samsung S5 Mini. Here's where I'm at:

  • Model: SM-G800F
  • Android Version: 5.1.1 (Last check 23/12/2016)
  • It is not in "Power Saving" mode
  • "Location" is turned in my swipe down quickbar
  • In my Settings > Location, I don't currently see Fitbit listed (listed is Google Play Store, Google Play Services, Launcher3, Maps, Unified Daemon), though I'm not sure it would/does until it actually connects. The "> Locating Method" is set to High Accuracy
  • Charge 2 comes up with 22.20.17 when I start and restart
  • I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled more times than I can count
  • There are no other Bluetooth devices near me and have unpaired all previous devices I had connections with. When I go into Bluetooth it sees the Charge 2 in the "Available Devices", sometimes it will say it is "Unable to Communicate with Charge 2" and other times it will be Paired, but even during those times then going into the Fitbit app still gives me the "Not working?" page with the battery, trackers and bluetooth warnings (note: this isn't how I have been trying to connect to the Tracker generally, this is just for information purposes)
  • I have restarted bluetooth manually and let the app restart it]
  • I have turned the phone off and on again
  • I have turned the tracker off and on again
  • I have turned both the phone and tracker off and then on again at the same time

Now, iIt will sync from a friends Samsung J3 and once I got to the point where the Tracker gave me the 4 digit code I stopped the setup, it would also not sync to my wifes S5 Mini either. Does anyone know if the S5 Mini bluetooth version is the problem (not sure what it is but I know other bluetooth versions are incompatible, but I thought the S5 Mini was fine), or if the current Android build is the issue?

Hi @Yospeck it is a pleasure to have you in the Fitbit community with us.

Indeed, the Samsung S5 Mini is compatible with the Charge 2.  Thanks for trying those troubleshooting steps. Can you confirm you continue to experience this issue?  If the issue persists, please udpate the Firmware of your Charge 2 and try again.

Let me know how it goes.

Same for me. Removed the app several times, switched my phone off several times, reinstalled the app again and my phone keeps on searching the HR2 till the app stops working

FYI I just left it overnight and in the morning, for whatever reason, it had synced itself. It ran it's update no problem and have had it working for weeks now, every so often it loses connection but then finds it and updates.
