Scanned Nutritional Facts Incorrect

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've seen similar posts to this, but not in a long time. I often see incorrect totals for calories and other nutritional data when comparing the label in front of me to what comes up in the Fitbit app after scanning the associated barcode.

Example below: grams of fat are incorrect, the scanned version says there's trans fat and Vitamin A when neither are present in the actual product, and the actual product contains calcium which is absent from the scanned version.

There are a handful of solutions to this problem:

1) Allow individuals to edit the item in the database (like Wikipedia)

2) Code the app so that the information is editable by the individual before being added to one's log.

3) Include a "report data error" button (most labor intensive for Fitbit)

Accurate data is important for tracking, otherwise what's the purpose?

@Stillness Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for sharing that screenshot and details about what you're experiencing.

Your feedback and comments are appreciated, we're always striving to improve our services offered. The food nutrition can be edited from the online Dashboard by doing the following:

- Go to the online Dashboard

- Click on Log > Food

- Select the food item you'd like to edit

- Choose "Customize this food"

- Save

If you'd like this could be customizable in the Fitbit app or include the Report data error button, please post your idea in our Feature Suggestion board, those are reviewed by our team and the status will change depending on Fitbit plans. Note, they should be posted individually in order for our team to categorize them appropriately.

Hope this helps.

@SilviaFitbit thank you for the reply. I see that Edit Custom Food is available for food items in which I have already entered custom food data, but this doesn't seem possible for items added to the food log via the search or barcode scan functions.

For instance, this is a screenshot of a food item that was found through the barcode scanner on the Android Fitbit app:

Compared to this screenshot of a custom item:

Unless you're referring to something that can be done via computer on the Fitbit website, it appears that only Custom Food items are editable.

Okay @SilviaFitbit , I see how this can be done on a desktop, but why isn't this a basic function of the app? Is this something I ought to post of the feature suggestion board?

Thanks for your help.
