I initially noticed that the widget was not updating with the latest steps. When I open the app, I need to manually sync. The Fitbit app is running in the background, so I see no reason it should not sync. Do others find their apps sync automatically and how often does it seem to update?

Yes mine does @Trankster I believe it is once every 20 minutes
Does your app have permission to run in the background and power management for the Fitbit app is disabled?
Have you looked at the android tips?
I've also moved your android question out of hardware support.

Since I returned and exchanged my defective Sense for another, my app does update. However, the widget that displays steps does not automatically update until I manually sync. My Android version is 10 (Samsung Galaxy S20+) so there may be a compatibility issue.
I also noticed in updating the firmware, my phone's screen needed to be on the entire time. I needed to check my phone every 9-10 minutes to keep the screen on. When is went to sleep the update stalled. Is that normal and if not what is the solution.
