Fitbit Update 12/21/2016: Our team has released a new Android app update, version 2.39.1 to address the issues of the sleep tile showing excessive amounts of sleep and/or a negative number. I recommend updating as soon as you see the app update available to you.
Once you've updated, please let me know if the issue has been resolved for you. I will greatly appreciate that!
Fitbit Update 12/19/2016: Our team is aware of a couple of sleep issues that have appeared for some users since updating the Android app to version 2.39.
Some users have reported that their sleep tile is displaying an excessive amount of sleep while some have reported seeing a negative number for their sleep record such as "-548 min awake/restless while using the Fitbit app for Android, version 2.39. Our team is currently aware of this issue and working to determine the root cause and get a fix for this pushed out.
For now, please note that a factory reset will not fix the issue, and neither will uninstalling and reinstalling. We’re working hard to figure this out - hang tight!

So, I just updated the app, and saw something strange. The tile showing sleep said almost 24 hrs, which is neither what I slept nor how much I've been awake. When I tap it, it shows the correct amount. When I go back, it shows almost 24 hrs.

I think the amount of time shown on the first page is a running total for the week. This is not helpful. This doesn't say much of anything. It is deceptive. I just synced it again. Screenshots below. Please don't have weekly running total for sleep when everything else is daily. If you want to show weekly running total, put it under the weekly average when we tap the tile.

Had my flex for over a year, suddenly recording inaccurate sleep, Saying 0 minutes restless/awake or minus restless/awake minutes, but graph is showing movement or restless minutes.v

That is most unusual, @jojobee. Mine has never done that, and isn't doing it now. I am running the new Android app 2.39, and it currently shows just last night's sleep.

That is the same version I have as well.
It is very strange. It hasn't done that before. I do not like it.

@jojobee I notice a few things on your dashboard versus sleep graph.
They both say that you where in bed for 8 hours 11 minutes? 9:52 PM to 9:03 AM, not 24 hours which would be 9:52 PM TO 9:03 PM.. Your total minutes of sleep in the week are 34 hour and two minutes. not 31 hours.
To me it looks like a fluke in the calculation on the dashboard, what does it show on the web dashboard at fitbit.com, this is always a good thing to check when the app seems screewy

android app shows negative min awake/restless (like -447). dashboard show 17 hours sleep but when looking at bars by day shows correct hours sleep. Data different on computer running windows ten, must be the android app?

I'm not as concerned with that aspect. What that means is that 9:52 PM is when I turned on the sleep mode (when I went to bed) and turned it back off at 9:03 AM (when I woke up). I was only asleep for the 8 hrs and a few min, the rest of the in bed (sleep mode on) time was restless or awake. That way of displaying has always been the case, it took me a little while to figure that out when I first started using it.
The website dashboard does not have accumulated anything anywhere, just by day. It does not even have the weekly average listed. This morning when I synced the app it, it shows 19 hr 58 min, but when tapped it shows the info for last night, as correctly as I can tell, based on previous sleep data. (i'm typing this from laptop, so no screenshots).

So the dashboard on the web is correct, but on the app incorrect. The app should only be showing the same as the web, that is your last night sleep detail.. We already did some math and found that the number is not the weeks total.
I had failed to notice you had a Fitbit One, and am wondering if an app upgrade is having problems because of the manual start.
If your looking at the detail on the web, I don't know about the app, you should see a time to fall asleep and a time to get up.
Tapping a day in your weeks listing of sleep will bring up more detail, as it does on the web.
You have me thinking and tonight I'm going to try and remember to use manual mode through the app.

I have a surge with the updated android app. I too am showing an incorrect sleep time on the dashboard, with the correct information on the sleep page. I do not use the manual sleep feature.

@nightswimming@jojobee- Have you tried clearing the cache on the Fitbit app to see if that clears up the readings? Force stop the app, clear the cache, then re-start the app. That will force it to download all the info again from the Fitbit server. Don't know if it will fix it, but it would be interesting to find out.

on my phone, i tried those things, cleared cache and data. upon opening the app afterward, it defaulted to old dashboard (with the bars), i put the new dashboard on and it still shows an inflated amount of sleep. the amount shown does not add up to dailies like it did yesterday or thursday. when it showed 20 something hrs was an acurate accumulation of actual sleep time that week, as was the 30 something hrs. but the current showing of 19 some hrs doesnt add up. i even tried an uninstall/reinstall of the app, no change

Thanks for the update @jojobee @nightswimming! It was a shot in the dark, and I was hoping it was something like the cache being screwed up.

Same here!! And it's also saying in the dashboard that I got like 25 hours of sleep, when I only got about 6 and then when I click on it it says the correct hours of sleep, then the number of times awake and restless and then like yous, the total time awake/restless is either 0 or a crazy negative number.
