Sleep tracking on my Pixel Watch 2 is not working correctly. I am getting up at night once or twice to use the bathroom. When I check sleep tracking in the morning, it either stopped tracking at that time with no information after, or it started tracking and has no information for the time prior. The end result is that it reports sleep between 2-4 hours per night with obviously a lousy sleep score - pretty useless.
I am wearing a Garmin Venu 2 at the same time, and it tracks my sleep fine and records my entire sleep cycle with correct sleep start and end (whether it records stages accurately is another question). I used to have an Inspire 2 and that worked fine. When I have the patience to edit the sleep cycle, I can edit it and adjust for the correct sleep start and end and sometime later it will show correct stages. In maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 days it gets the entire sleep cycle - the other 80% I am a zombie.
I have changed it from sensitive to normal with no effect. I checked to ensure time zones are the same in fitbit app and on the watch.
Extremely frustrating.

Hi, @DerAusgewandert welcome, the sleep tracking on your PW2 is of course managed by the Fitbit app. You may find this article helpful How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
If you are wearing other devices at the same time it's always possible the Bluetooth environment is complicated, particularly if you are using older BT devices like headphones.
You do not mention the make, model or OS of your phone, Fitbit Supported Devices explains the requirements.
May I suggest you try using just your PW2 to see how you get on?
FYG I have a PW2 with a Pixel 8 Pro and do not experience the problems you describe.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

thank you for the response and suggestions. My environment has not changed. The same Bluetooth devices that I had with my Inspire 2 as an example. I used a Galaxy Watch, a TicWatch and the Venu 2. The PW2 is the ONLY watch that I have problems with sleep tracking. I am using a Pixel 8 Pro with the watch. I started wearing the Venu 2 because of the issues with the PW2 sleep tracking. I've been wearing just the PW2 for over a month before I recently started using the Venu 2 as well. Everything else on the watch works fine.
Note that when I deleted my incomplete logs this morning and entered a new one with the correct start and end time, it took a few minutes, and it showed my sleep cycle complete. Something is definitely off with the sensitivity of the wake/sleep setting. I am going to try the watch on my other hand for a change.

I had all these problems, see my thread for solutions. Google pw2 and pixel 8 Pro. I use sensitive mode. It does reduce my sleep score - but I prefer honest feedback to a higher score. I know I don't sleep that well, as I work nights and probs have too much caffeine.

thank you. Of the suggestions you list
"1) don't go sleep with less that 30% watch battery. Power saver seems to effect it." --> already in the habit of charging the watch in the evening before bedtime
"2) Buy a strap that you can COMFORTABLY AND SECURELY fit, nice and tight so it won't move when you shake your wrist vigorously." --> I use Google's Active Band with a tight setting already
"3) don't check for your sleep log when you wake up, get OUT OF BED for at least 15 mins and then sync your watch and the log will appear." --> I will give that a try, although I've been doing this probably already at about 50%.
Interestingly, I got a little sick and took some nighttime pills last night. I slept very well, and the watch was able to track my sleep perfectly (the first time for over a month now). It is very possibly that my sleep is simply horrible, and the watch recognizes that.
I will keep monitoring this.
thanks again for the feedback and suggestions.

As noted in the beginning of that thread, I use sensitive sleep mode as I'm a restless sleeper. This also allows me to go for a pee 3 or 4 times and even have a ciggy and not break the tracking.
In regard to the strap. I find the silicone ones when tight make me feel my own pulse! I really do mean "shake vigorously". So I've got a metal one now and really happy with it.
Good luck dude

Yep, I've already played with the sensitivity settings without any improvements. Trust me, I can shake my hand vigorously and the watch is not moving.
It's Okay if the watch is giving me a lousy sleep score, but it should be able to add up different sections of my cycle and not falsely tack my bathroom trip as the start or end of my sleep and ignore the rest. I believe that is a Fitbit algorithm problem. What works for you might not necessarily work for me.
Maybe the watch is trying to tell me something that I don't realize yet. I should worry more about my sleep than this stupid watch.
cheers!
