I walked 30 minutes this morning which was 2.5 miles. When my fitbit synched, it showed that I had only walked 1.5 miles, just over 2000 steps, and not logged 30 minutes of exercise.

The number of steps and distance are dependent upon two things, @Gigifor5:

1) How you swing your arm, and whether or not you are using something such as a walking stick, cane, etc., and

2) The Stride Length set in your profile.

If you are carrying something in the hand of the arm your tracker is on, you will not be getting full arm swings and it will not count all of your step.

The distance associated with the number of steps is based on the stride length defined in your profile. If you used the default stride length, it is based on your heigth and sex, but it may not be accurate. You should measure your stride length and enter that setting in your profile.

I have been using my HR for over a year. Start my walk and push the button. Until today, everything worked fine. Today, it recorded 11, 870 steps which came out to 1.2 miles.  2.8 feet per step equals 5.98 miles. I was swinging my arms as usual.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Thanks for taking a break from stepping to visit the Community @dannymitchell! That sounds a little weird. First, I suggest restarting your tracker by doing the following:

  1. Plug your charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Insert the other end into the port on the back of your Fitbit Charge or Fitbit Charge HR. Your tracker will begin charging.
  3. Press and hold the button for 10 to 12 seconds until you see the Fitbit icon and a version number (e.g. "V122").
  4. Let go of the button.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Give a try and keep an eye to your tracker's behavior after this. Then post back with the outcome! Smiley Wink
