I got on the treadmill at 9,500 steps and got my hourly total up (so 9,750 steps) and then kept going because I was nearly at the full daily step target ... the phone was sitting on the treadmill so I could watch my steps building up until I reached 9,988 steps. Then no more steps were recorded or shown on the app or the Fitbit for five minutes so I quit the treadmill and walked back into the office and sat down - the app and Fitbit suddenly showed 10,017 steps. Clearly not my actual total but it suggests that there's some data transfer issues that are stalling the Fitbit when I get close to a target.

@EdmundC Nice to see you again in the forums. Thanks for the explanation.
I will be happy to help you regarding the step count with your Fitbit device. Please note that a Fitbit device tracks data all the time, even though it is not syncing. Were you able to confirm that the Fitbit device also stopped counting steps while exercising? Or was it only noticeable on the Fitbit app? Please make sure you were not holding the side handles on the treadmill. For your device to count steps during a walk or run, your arm must swing back and forth as you move. If you hold the handle, steps will most likely not be detected. I also suggest you restart your Fitbit device according to the instructions on this article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?. Keep an eye on the step count next time you are about to hit your goal. Thanks in advance.
