Steps suddenly increased on S8

I don't have my Fitbit yet, but installed the app anyway to get used to it before my Charge 3 arrives. 

The app has recorded steps fairly accurately for the past week or so, then suddenly today it went WAY over. And it's not just some minor miscalibration/discrepancy -it says I've done over 17,000 steps, when I haven't even left the house!

What could be going on? Samsung Health's step count is extremely accurate on my phone, and so far the Fitbit app's number has been within a few hundred of what Samsung Health says.

What would be different about today?

Let me help you figure out what might have happened.

 

Could it be possible that you manually logged a walking activity? That would explain why there is a big number of steps out of nowhere.
