I just started getting a message saying I must turn on Location Services to sync my Fitbit. They blame it on Google.  Is this necessary?  If so, time to chuck out the Fitbit.

You can also go to the Android developers site and read up on it.

In short, this change was made by google to close an open door that gave easy access to your phones contents.
