Today's steps way higher than total of hourly steps

Hi there - See below.

If I total up my hourly steps per the app below, it is 8,267. As you can see, the app says my total is 11,082. Where are the additional 2,815 steps coming from? I can tell the 8267 is accurate.

Hello @abrix

By any chance, do you have your phone as a connected device to your Fitbit app? To check:

  • Tap on the device icon in the upper left of the Today page in the Fitbit app
  • On the Connected to Fitbit page, look in the Device section. You should see a tile for your Fitbit device. If you also see a Phone tile, that mean your phone is a connected device. This is an option to use your phone to track steps & activity when you're not wearing your Fitbit device. Some users will see additional steps on their app that were tracked by their phone.

If this is the case for you, you can tap on the Phone tile and tap on Disconnect device on the page that opens. Follow the prompts to remove your phone as a connected device. Doing this will not disconnect the Fitbit app from your phone.

Please let us know if this helped you.

Thank you for the suggestion! I do not have my phone connected. The only
other device is the Aria Air (scale).

Hello @abrix

Thanks for confirming that you don't have your phone as a Connected device.

By any chance, do you have any other health apps connected to your Fitbit app? I recall seeing some users reporting that they see additional steps when another health app syncs/connects to their Fitbit app. Apparently, their Fitbit app is adding steps from those other health apps.

No. I only have the Air & Pixel Watch connected. Health Connect isn't even
set up to allow connection of another app.
