Tracked exercise is paused when dismissing the screen

Having started an exercise within the mobile (Android) app, selecting the "back" button to dismiss the screen has the effect of pausing the recording. The same effect occurs if you select the device home button to return to the device home screen, display the list of recent apps and then the select "Clear all".

This is extremely annoying as it mean that it is easily possible to pause the recording without meaning to, resulting in effort not being recorded as part of the exercise activity.

I can think of no reason why the recording should be paused when this screen is dismissed, and even if there is then it should not do so without warning the user at the very least.

App version: v.2.93 (20213390)

Android version: v.8.0.0

Device: Samsung S7 (fully update with all the latest updates)

Welcome to the Forums @MikeMoo.

Thanks for bringing this up and sharing all of those details on the matter.

To be clear on the situation, when you say 'device' you are referring to the phone, right? I'd also like to ask for further clarification on the pausing. Does it 'Pause' the recording or does it completely stop the recording and you need to start a new one from scratch?

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks for the quick reply.

In answer to your questions...

  • You are correct, by "device" I do mean the phone I am using.
  • And yes, in my experience, it does only pause the recording, so it can be restarted.

Hello @MikeMoo.

Thanks for your prompt reply and those clarifications.

In this case I can confirm that this is the intended way for the app to work in regards to MobileRun.

Perhaps you could post about your this in our Feature Suggestions board. That way you can make your voice heard and other users can comment and vote on the idea to show their support. Be sure to read the FAQ to better understand how that board works.
