Trouble syncing 2 Fitbits

I have a Blaze which I wear every day. I recently (3 days ago) got an Alta HR for sleep and other occasions when I want something smaller. Since connecting the Alta I am having trouble getting the dashboard to switch between the Blaze and the Alta. Today I left home wearing the Blaze as always but it would not let go of the Alta despite being miles away from it and unable to sync. I had to reboot my phone and Blaze TWICE to get them to finally sync. Is there an easy fix for this?

Hello @SunriseJogger02.

Thanks for sharing those details and letting us know that you had to restart twice in order to get it to sync.

In this case I'd like to ask you some questions on the matter:

  • Did you set up notifications with your Alta HR?
  • How did the situation continue since your post?
  • What phone are you using to sync your Fitbits?

Look forward to your reply so that we can determine what is going on.

Sorry for the delayed response. It was working for a while and the latest update to the app seemed to help. However, this week it is driving me nuts again.

Yes, I have notifications set up on the Alta as well as the Blaze. Would turning that off when I am not wearing it help?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9.

I have rebooted both my phone & Blaze several times today. Each time it syncs for a moment and then lets go. My heartbeat isn't even registering let alone my steps. Every time I go into the app it is trying to connect to the Alta which it has been away from for over 9 hours now. No matter how many times I try to get it to connect to the Blaze it just spins and quits.

Hello @SunriseJogger02

I apologize for the delay in my response.

My suggestion would be to definitely try to turn the notifications off whenever you are trying to sync the other device. Having the notifications on could cause the Fitbit to bond to the phone and thus prevent the phone from syncing with other devices.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I turned off notifications. I turned off all the auto sync and all day sync functions. But it STILL is dropping my Blaze constantly and looking for the Alta HR which is nowhere near. Which means my Blaze is not able to upload my heart rate info, my exercise or steps. And when I go home it drops it to pick up the Alta HR.

I have come to the conclusion they changed this app to block out the discontinued Blaze and that is why they are constantly searching for the newer product. If I can I am going to return the Alta HR and turn to another company that isn't continually changing their products and leaving loyal customers in the lurch.
