Unable to connect a new watch due to need to upgrade fitbit account, but cannot?

I recently purchased a new Google Watch. During setup, it asked me to migrate my Fitbit Account to Google Account.

In starting this process, it told me that I had to first upgrade one of the child accounts associated with my Fitbit parent account as my child was now older than 13. In doing this process, for whatever reason, it associated my child's new upgraded account to my primary google account email address.

When then trying to migrate my own account, it constantly tells me that there is already an account associated with that email. I have tried to delete my child's account (she is over 13 and no longer uses a fitbit anyway), but it seems to be taking a very long time to go, as I started this a week ago.

I saw on another answer that fitbit help had said to create a new account with a new Gmail account. I have done this, but cannot see how to switch the account on the fitbit app? Thanks

My thought?

  • When you delete a Fitbit Account, you have 30 days to change your mind. Until the 30 days run out, you will not be able to use this account.
  • Create a new account for your child. Then transfer their data to the new account.
  • If your email and your child's email are showing in the current G-mail account. You probably want to use Takeout.
  • I really am not sure about the details, therefore
  • You might want to put a post in the Google Account Help Board
  • You will need to be logged into a Gmail account

To move a Gmail Account to a new Gmail Account

To transfer emails from one Gmail account to another, you can use the "Import mail and contacts" feature within Gmail settings. This will allow you to import all emails from one account to the other. Alternatively, you can use Google Takeout to export specific email folders and import them into the other account.

Detailed Steps:
    1. Sign in to the target Gmail account: Log into the Gmail account where you want to move the emails.

    2. Access Gmail Settings: Click the gear icon in the top right corner and select "See all settings".

    3. Go to Accounts and Import: Click the "Accounts and Import" tab.

    4. Import mail and contacts: In the "Check mail from other accounts" section, click "Add a mail account".

  • Enter the source account details: Enter the email address of the account you want to import from and click "Next".

  • Confirm the details and password: Follow the prompts, including entering your password and selecting the desired import options (e.g., "Always use a secure connection (SSL)" and "Label incoming messages").

  • Add the account: Click "Add Account" to begin the import process.

Using Google Takeout:
  • Go to Google Takeout: Visit the Google Takeout website.

  • Select Gmail: Choose "Select individual Google services" and select "Gmail".

  • Choose folders and format: Select the specific email folders you want to export and choose the file format (e.g., mbox).

  • Request export: Click "Next step" and then "Create export" to initiate the export process.

  • Download the file: Once the export is ready, download the zipped file.

  • Sign in to the target account: Log into the Gmail account where you want to import the emails.

  • Use the "Import mail and contacts" feature: Follow the steps outlined above to import the downloaded file.
