Unable to convert a child to supervised 13+ account

Im getting the above issue when trying to convert a Fitbit account to a supervised 13+ google account

it says the only way to proceed is to remove supervision or "ask a parent"

what does "ask a parent" mean? what should be done to enable this without removing supervision?

Hi, @kraz63. Welcome. You may find this article of interest: How to move a Fitbit Account to a Google Account—Fitbit Help Center. I apologise if you've already seen it. There's a section on children's accounts.

If you are not able to make any progress I suggest you talk to "Customer Support" and work through steps one & two then use the "Contact us" link for Chat or phone for a prompt response.

Cheers

Hi there, @kraz63.

Thanks for your efforts and regarding your first question, the message to "ask a parent" is for any child trying to upgrade their account, as they need their parents permission before doing the process.

Moving forward, I understand that you've tried upgrading to a standard account, but please confirm you've followed these steps:

  1. Go to their inbox.
  2. Open and read the email titled, "Ready to update your Google Account?"
  3. Select Update your account.
  4. Review their account settings.
  5. Select I agree.

More information about how Google accounts work for children turn 13 can be found here.

Hi there, @kraz63.

Thanks for getting back, as well for your feedback regarding the title of this thread. Regarding your question, once a child turns 13 or the applicable age in your country, they'll get an email to upgrade their child account. You'd need to check your child's inbox to do this process and keep the parental supervision.

Hi there LizzyFitbit,

upon checking his email, we have found no such type of email, but he said he got some sort of notification on his phone regarding turning 13 although he doesn't remember what it was. Is there any way to have this email?
