This thread is now closed so I've started a new one to get an update.
Basically, if an activity that was automatically detected is the wrong activity type, it can't be changed. For example, gardening is detected as a walk or run. Going into the activity, changing the type and saving it does work for a few seconds, but it will revert it back to the original.
Also, for an automatic detected walk I like to add in the distance based on my step count and stride length in the activity (I don't know why this field isn't already populated). But the same issue persists, adding in the distance results in it being wiped out a few seconds later.
Edited to say I have a Charge 5, Android app version 4.30 and a Pixel 6a running Android 15.

Yup, bumping this.
Picked up an Inspire 3 as a Cyber Monday deal and just discovered this. Go to edit an exercise that auto-detect got wrong, make my changes and hit save, it just reverts back to the original exercise that was detected incorrectly.
Debating if I'll be returning it now since this is such a basic feature that I can't believe it doesn't work. Is such a basic thing to get wrong.

I am having the same issue, sometimes I forget to stop a manually started workout (weight lifting in this case)
When I check my fitbit an hour later and realize, I end the activity.
But when I go to edit and shorten the duration the change is not saved when I click save.

The issue was posted in August 2024 and Fitbit said at the time they were working on it. It's been 4 months and the issue clearly hasn't been addressed. I'm wondering if they closed the other thread on this issue because they don't want to deal with and just hope it goes away.

Hello @JSC1967
The issue with editing workouts was partially fixed for Android users. However, the problem returned after one of the app updates.
I've seen a couple of recent Moderator posts acknowledging the issue and confirming that the team is working on fixing the problem. However, they haven't mentioned any timeline for the fix.
I expect that the fix will rollout in an app update. One of the Moderators mentioned that an app update has just started rolling out. But other than the Moderator mentioning that this update is supposed to fix the issue with food logging & weight tracking, I haven't seen if what other fixes are included.

Thanks for the information, but I can't say I ever saw any improvement after I first posted here (the closed thread I referred to).
I'll keep an eye out for app updates.
Edit:
My Fitbit app was updated yesterday and the issue still persists.

Hello @rownie23
Please let me know what app version you now have. Is it 4.32?

Yes, that is correct. Apologies, I should have posted that in my reply.
