I got upgraded my phone from and iPhone to a Google Pixel 3 XL and when I use my versa to go running with GPS it connects then during the run it disconnects with my phone even with it being in an arm band on the same arm.
Is this an Fitbit and Andriod compatibility issue? Software issue? I never had this issue with an iPhone. Please fix this problem I hate not being able to track my runs properly!

Welcome to the Forums @Samrunning52.
As you mentioned, this is happening because the Pixel 3 XL s not part of the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone.
As long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it. Some users of unsupported devices have mentioned that following these steps helps with the syncing.
In addition to that, we do have an issue going on with Android 9 that is preventing the Fitbit devices from syncing or connecting to the phones. It could also be related to that.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
