When backdating weight loss start date, getting error being offline

New to Fitbit. I've been using Samsung Health for the last 5+ years. And seeing that fitbit steps do not sync into Samsung Health (not an approved device), im trying to move my data into fitbit.

I added manual logs of my biggest weights for each year over the last few. (After I got my scale to sync my current weight and I set a goal weight).

Now seeing that there are badges for weight loss i figured it would be cool to actually see those badges as I've lost that wight, just not while using fitbit.

I've read lots of posts here about how to do it via the app. I go to the Nutrition and Weight settings, I can update the start date, although it doesn't save it, and when I go to update the weight (to what I put in the manual log from 5 years ago) and it toasts up "Goal cannot be changed when offline".

But my device is on, im connect to the internet, I can sync etc.

Can I create a support ticket to get that info added? Or is there something else I can do outside the app to get the data to save properly?

Again this message only shows up when I change the weight value not the date. The date updates in the form but when I leave and come back its the current date.

Hi @Pankakes102   To the best of my knowledge, and I played around with this years ago, you can't track any weight loss before you had an account.  You can only track from when you opened your account.

So I just went in and changed the dates to all be within the last couple weeks (when I created my account) and upon trying to update the start date/weight to the logged weight from a few days after my account was created. Im still receiving the same error. Any other suggestions?

@Pankakes102   I don't have any other suggestions.  I don't use this feature right now.  I moved your post to the Android app forum, because your issue might be specific to the Android app.  I was able to do this some time ago on the iOS version.  But the two versions can be different for some features.  I hope an Android user can help you.

I've been trying to correct my starting weight date and the actual starting weight.

Fitbit let's me change the date, but as soon as I try to change the weight, it says I'm offline. (I'm not)

Is this an Android thing, or is it a messed up FitBit thing?

Ever since everything changed, nothing has been easy. I can't find anything and nothing works.

I'm so frustrated that I canceled Premium. If *this* is impossible to fix, I may not add it back.

Happy New Year to me... lol

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi, @NYCntryGirl, welcome to the community. I see your problem, and I'm replicating it. This issue has been noted in the past  When backdating weight loss start date, getting er... - Fitbit Community  is an example. I can only suggest you reset the goal weight & work off that. I appreciate this may not be satisfactory.

Cheers

I've lost over 72 pounds, and I really want it to show. (I'm sure that's understandable.)

It doesn't sound like this is an issue that will ever be fixed - even if it's just for Android users.

I guess I'll play it by ear, but the only things I have been using FitBit for over the last year were tracking my weightloss and my steps, and now it won't do 50% of what I want it to. Very frustrating...

Thank you for responding!

Sad to report that after updating to v4.60 from the Google Play Store, that upon attempting the steps I've followed to set my goal weight/date, that im still unable to change it and that it gave me the same error (offline).

Steps to reproduce:

Go to Nutrition & Weight, enter in date (seems to save fine), enter in weight, click okay, "....Offline" toast at the bottom. Go back, back into Nutrition and Weight, see the date was updated from previous value to Today's date, weight is unaffected.

Is there not a way for someone on the backend to just do a UPDATE weight_goals SET weight = ? Where user_id = (SELECT user_id FROM user WHERE <its me>)??
