Why don't steps logged when I do bike exercise correlate to miles.

I did a long bike ride this morning that also recorded ~8k steps. But the steps don't correlate to miles. Anyone know why that is? I use Sense but this appears to be app issue.

Simple answer, @Njgernold because you are not stepping when on a bike. Your tracker is counting the bounces of the handlebars. 

Miles or determined by GPS.
