Because FitBit won't support Google Fit. Any Android app is allowed to work with Google Fit but FitBit hasn't implemented support for Google Fit.
This is probably because FitBit doesn't want their users to use the Google Fit app and like it and decide to use a non-FitBit device in the future with Google Fit.
FitBit is wrong about this however. They SHOULD implement compatibility in the FitBit app do that it needs it's data into Google Fit. If they don't implement such compatibility then my next wearable device is not going to be a FitBit.
