Why isn't it possible to crop an exercise?

There really should be an option to crop an exercise. Just today I was finished walking the dog and I went straight to shoveling snow after and my exercise went way past what should have been.

You can edit your exercise in the Fitbit app. This help page (<-- click) has the instructions. 

Please let us know if you were able to edit your walk with the instructions.

Editing the exercise does not crop it. Even though I change the end time that does not automatically change the length and everything else associated with that exercice up to that point.
