Shows photos of the app with them but my app shows only awake restless and asleep?

I'd really like to track deep sleep on my Android phone...

Hi, @MagDee! Do you have a tracker with a heart rate monitor? Non-heart rate trackers don't have this feature, since it's based largely on heart rate.

How long is your sleep? The sleep stages data is only available if at least 3 hours of sleep is detected. If it detects that you are awake for more than an hour and then asleep again, it will create a second sleep cycle. The two sleep cycles are calculated separately. Each cycle will show sleep stages only if it was at least three hours on its own.

If this doesn't explain what you are not seeing, then screen shots might help.

Hi there,

Yes, i have Charge 2. I can track my sleep but not like on the page i quoted (REM, LIGHT, DEEP, AWAKE) mine only says as per screenshot and as such is quite useless as i do know when i'm asleep... can't track the light and deep phases though.

I don't think "restless" means same as light phase and deep phase... this is not my screenshot but I can't seem to add a photo here, so this is just a link  to a similar looking one /t5/image/serverpage/image-id/39168i83B4C20CDE30D98F?v=1.0

I have the same issue with my Alta HR.  The app suggests loosening or tightening my band but I can't get it to work consistently.

@MagDee, I also have had issues with posting. I am not surprised about your inability to add the screen shot. You need to use the Photos button. Then navigate to your pictures, possibly dropping the URL with the URL option. It looks like picture link is local to you. It wasn't valid for me.

You are correct on restless not being light. Here is the screen shot for today with sleep stages.

Here is earlier this week when I had less than 3 hours. I am guessing it is closer to what you are seeing.

@Hhbt, Position on the wrist can also affect HR readings. Take a look at our HR graph. Does it show any gaps where readings weren't available. I have only had two times that gaps appeared during sleep, both were 15 minutes or less and didn't appear to affect the sleep chart.

In my case I loose HR readings during walks when it looks like perspiration buildup might be an issue. I doubt that is your issue.

Recommended is one finger with above your wrist, two during exercise. I normally get best results about half a finger width above my wrist. If you are missing HR data, try different positions. Otherwise the issue is elsewhere.

@Hhbt, it looks like something is definitely not working with the app. I have seen this in the past, the last time being July 3rd. Each time it occurred, future ones were correct. I know there were issues when it first came out. It did work correctly for you on Tuesday.

I suggest contacting Fitbit support. They are very helpful.

I am currently in an email dialog with them to help them fix a different, minor to me, issue that is affecting many Android users. It started a phone call, where it turned out not to have an immediate fix.

For your issue, it may likely not be your tracker or app. When it occurred for me it also affected the web browser. Reporting the issue is likely the best way to get it working for you.

Good luck!

ok, i think i'm not being clear.

My app measures with different colours - awake, restless and asleep. the
app itself doesnt differenteiate between light and deep sleep, not my
fitbit's position. there are no measurement made for light and deep sleep.
on my app. in my android phone.

on the link i sent first there is photo of the fitbit app that is tracking
sleep in colours measuring light and deep phases.

My app doesn't do that.

Supposedly the same app has different interfaces measruing different
things. I want my app to measure light and deep sleep. it doesnt at the
moment.

Why is my app different to the one that is also supposed to be the fitbit
app and whose app measures light and deep sleep.... or maybe the screenshot
was fake.

I can't describe it better. where in the screenshot the options are
differentiating between light and deep - in my app they arent available to
me.

@MagDee, assuming there isn't something funny going on with how your heart rate is being measured (i.e., bad contact) or the duration you are asleep, as mentioned earlier, you should generally be seeing only the light/deep/etc sleep. I would suggest rebooting your tracker a few times and seeing if this makes a difference. If not, it might be worth contacting Fitbit Support directly.

Keep in mind, not all Fitbit trackers with HRM have the Sleep Stages capability; case in point, the Surge does not have such an ability.

yo I got a solution here you go I hope this helps you

There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Hi! I just started using my Alta to track my sleep. I slept 7ish hrs, but I am not getting the graph showing the rem/light/deep sleep as your first screen shot shows below, I’m getting the one you posted showing less than 3 hours. Any idea why? Do I have it on too tight?
