Hello @DebbyR.
Let me help you figure out what is going on and how to get your Zip to pair to your phone.
My recommendation would be that you follow all of the steps listed in this help article. They should help you get the Zip paired and syncing.
In the meantime I'd like to ask if you still have your previous phone or not.
Look forward to your reply.

Hello @DebbyR.
Thanks for reaching back and letting me know that you do not have access to your previous phone.
At the time the Pixel 3 is a supported device. Here is the updated list.
Did you try the steps from the link I mentioned? If so please let me know how it went and if the issue did persist.
I look forward to your reply.

I've tried all of these steps, and my Zip won't sync with my Google Pixel 3XL. I have to remove the battery every day to get it to sync briefly and update my progress.

As you're discovering, the Zip doesn't work properly with Android 9. It's been this way for over 10 months, so it's not likely to change. This is probably why FitBit has discontinued the Zip and stopped monitoring the Zip-specific forum.
Support will put you thru a wild goose chase that ultimately ends in you removing and reinstalling the battery in order to Sync the device. That's the ONLY solution if you have Android 9 on your phone and you'll have to do it pretty much every time that you want to sync. Unfortunately, this is probably as good as it's going to get since they've dropped the device from their lineup.
Why the FitBit Forum moderators don't post this information as a sticky to the Zip forum is beyond me. Keeping customers in the dark is irresponsible and wastes customers' time.

This seems consistent with my experience of fitbit's business model. Get you in cheap, let you build up year(s) of data in their app, get a community of users and then abandon you. You've got too much to lose by leaving so you end up buying a new Fitbit once your existing device has broken prematurely.
