fitbit app on android stopped tracking steps on 5/24 between 5-6pm EST

Have the FitBit app on my Samsung (Android) phone, it's been working fine. Between 5-6 pm yesterday (5.25), it stopped tracking steps. Did the phone security update and restarted the phone, no change. Any suggestions on recovery before I delete the app and reinstall, to see if that works?

You didn't mention a fitbit device. Are you just using the phone app alone to count steps?  If so, make sure "Phone" is still listed as a connected device.  Perhaps phone security update reset/removed that.

I am just using the phone app. Stopped tracking yesterday. Only did the security update today because that would restart the phone, and it was going to install automatically tonight anyway. So the update did not break it.

My suggestion is just as applicable whether or not security update or phone restart was involved.

Sorry, left that out. Phone does show as the only device connected to FitBit, synced 18 hours ago

Sorry, that's all I've got.
Fitbit at least used to call tracking steps with you phone "Mobile Track" and I think it was primarily intended as a way for fitbit users to count steps when they forgot, or chose, to wear their trackers, but I see no reason it should not work stand-alone.  That said, I have seen some fitbit users recently get many thousand of steps added all at once without knowing why; then they realized they had their phone connected as a device without realizing it;  the point being that maybe sometimes it accumulates steps for a while and then syncs them all at once, often just after midnight, rather that adding them as regularly as you might wish, so maybe just hold on another day or more and see if you get a bunch added all at once, though not ideal.
