"Near Me" groups that are actually near me

I've wanted to get into Fitbit's communities for a while now. I've looked into the major groups the apps suggest, but they all are all much too big for me. I went to the Discover More Groups tab in hopes of something more specific. These groups are still broad and too big for me. I got excited seeing the Near Me section, but was disappointing when it was only for the largest cities in the country (the closest of which is over 300 miles away).
I live in a fairly large city, so I'm hoping that there is one for me that is just hidden somewhere. Are there more of these public groups besides the 12 listed? Is there a way to request one be made for my city?

I've considered making a group myself, but if I understand it correctly, those groups are closed and impossible to search for within the app. I don't want to build a secluded community; I want to be able to talk with people that live in the same place as me

The official groups that have been created appear now in the Near Me category. If you'd like to add a new city, please post your idea in our Feature Suggestion board, those are reviewed by our team and the status will change depending on Fitbit plans. Also users have the opportunity to vote and comment on those ideas. 

In the meantime, you could try creating a topic in the Get Moving board, there you could add friends that are from x city and create a closed group.
