I'd just like to know a few details: What type of exercise are you trying to record? How are you trying to record your exercise?
In the meantime, restart your Alta HR as described in this help article. This will refresh your tracker internally. Once you've done this, Finally, please check out this help article and follow the tips that it contains in order to track your workouts.
