Aria 2 consistently loses connection

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had this problem since I've bought this thing. Even had a thread when I was doing my first time setup. The Aria 2 continually fails to find my wifi access point even though it was syncing two days ago. I have to constantly try to re-configure the wifi settings in the Aria, which means I also have to do it manually since the Aria can't list more than 10 or so access points. Well, I still can't figure out how to get it to find my access point, even with it manually set. It tries to connect, but after 3 seconds or so it reports "NO WIFI". The AP is there, I have other devices on it.

@jJuanJoFitbit You had indicated a case was sent to the support team, but I haven't heard anything from them. The problem just ocurred again, which means I'm going to have to spend another 30-45 minutes trying to get the Aria 2 to reconnect.

I've determined that I need to restart the router in order for the Aria 2
to have a chance to reconnect to it. (Meaning I don't have to go through
the setup phase again.) So it's not as bad as it was. That said, it still
is the only device on my network to have this problem.

@Freyar It's odd that a router restart needs to be performed every time that your Aria 2 stops connecting to your network. However, please monitor your Aria 2 the next 24 hours and if the issue happens again, let me know and I'll be happy to proceed accordingly.

See you later! Smiley Happy

Hi,

Same issue here. I correctly setup the wifi connection for my Aria 2 and it correctly syncs and sends the data to the fitbit server. 2 or 3 days after, Aria cannot connect anymore, giving "weak wifi" error (from the same place it connected before). To solve the issue, I have to reboot the router and setup the wifi connection in Aria 2 again, every 2-3 days.

Any solution or fix planned to be released?

@ClaireMad Thank you for joining us in this thread! I'm sorry to hear that you need to restart your router in order to fix the syncing issues that your Aria 2 is experiencing. If you haven't done so, please take out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. This will refresh your scale internally.

After this, try setting up your Aria 2 from scratch and see if the issue gets fixed.

Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

My Aria 2 arrived May 23, 2019 and it will not stay connected.  My husband is an engineer who built our computers and has a closet dedicated to "wires of the computer world"  needless to say I don't understand it.  LOL With that said he is stumped by the Aira 2 and it not staying connected.  It says it's connected but it does show on the iphone or the computer.  I am very close to just returning the scale but I love the fitbit app and really, really want the scale to work.  And before you even suggest YES we have watched every video on set-up and I have done them a 100 times. Can anyone help?????

@QT5 thank you for participating in our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria 2 doesn't stay connected to your account even though you've tried all the recommended troubleshooting steps before contacting our forums.

I would like to know if you get any error message when your Aria 2 tries to sync your data after you realize that it got disconnected from your account. If so, please provide more details.

As a side note, make sure that your router runs the protocol 802.11b and the bandwidth is 2.5GHz. These details can be verified with your Internet service provider.

Finally, try restarting your router, then try the setup process one more time and see if your Aria 2 stays connected.

Keep me posted on the outcome! Smiley Happy

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am replying to the questions and suggestions posted in your response to my
Aria2 query.

We have indeed tried all the recommended actions. Our network does not have
a router per se. It has a security gateway connected to a cable modem, the
gateway feeds a managed PoE switch, which in turn connects to several access
points. These access points supply WiFi throughout our home. They are dual
band 2Ghz and 5Ghz and are backward compatible to all the earlier WiFi
standards including ac, n, b, & g. I have reset the access points numerous
times in order to get the Aria2 to maintain a stable connection. I have 11
WiFi devices connected to these access points without any issues. I am also
using the cleanest channel (11) on the 2Ghz band to minimize interference.
We have also used a WiFi analyzer to measure both bandwidth and signal
strength where the scale was placed and both measured very well. The
results of the procedures we followed and the preponderance of like
complaints on the Internet do tend to implicate the Aria2 as the culprit.

With regards,

Donna

@QT5 thank you for getting back and providing the details requested previously. I would just like to know one more detail that will help me to assist you accordingly:

- How many characters does your WiFi password contain?

- How far is your Aria scale from the access point?

I look forward to your reply!

Mentioned earlier you said "As a side note, make sure that your router runs the protocol 802.11b and the bandwidth is 2.5GHz." but in the most recent post you said 2.4GHz. so which one is it? A range?

I also have the same problem and have to reset the router every time for it to reconnect. Very annoying and time consuming.

I'm sad to say that I am experiencing the same problem. If I reset the WiFi, it works maybe 1-2 days. Then it can't connect to the internet anymore and I have to reset it again. And here I see that many of you also have this problem! I didn't spend this much money on a scale to have such a big problem with it. Yes, I could manually plot in my weight results in the app, but I got the scale to keep easier track of my fitness. This is why I bought it, and now it has lost it's point. Fitbit, please fix this.

I am now having the same issue. I have had these scales for a bit now and never had any issues up until the last couple of days.
