Aria 2 displays a "Connection Error" message

I’ve only recently (as in today) got the Aria 2. Managed to set it up ok onto my account, got it connected to WiFi etc however when I weigh and it shows my icon as it starts to sync it then eventually comes up with “connection error” and won’t upload my weight. I’ve reset my WiFi in case it was that, it’s literally right next to the router. Am I doing something wrong?? It’s starting to annoy me

Just so you know, connecting with Customer Support on the Connection Error problem is rather like asking for help from a Magic 8 Ball. The tech told me to try reconnecting to my wifi for a third and fourth time. When that did nothing, she told me to "try again tomorrow."

I got the "Connection Error" due to that Aria 2 uses multicast or broadcast on the WiFi link. Multicast and broadcast are being sent at the lowest rate so that everybody can receive them. This reduces the speed on the entire traffic on that WLAN.

Good networks like Unifi will block this traffic by default. This should be included in the Fitbit Aria 2 error description.

@Birger thank you for joining us in this thread! Regarding the "Connection Error" that your Aria 2 is displaying, I'd like to know if the message is still showing or if it got resolved.

I appreciate your feedback since this helps us to keep improving.

In the meantime, make sure that your router runs the protocol 802.11b and the bandwidth is 2.4GHz. If these details are correct, restart your router and set up your Aria 2 from scratch.

Looking forward to your response!

This is resolved in a Ubiquity Unifi network by allowing broadcast messages from the Aria 2s MAC address. This is done in Settings->Wireless Network-> "the network you use". Then go to Advance Options and add the MAC adress of the Aria 2 to the Excepted Devices.

@JuanJoFitbit - any chance of a firmware trhat is not spamming with multicast/broadcast? It does slow dowen all network traffick and is a bad design from your side.

@Birger thank you for sharing those details.

Regarding your inquiry, a firmware update is not available. However, when an update is released, your Aria 2 will display a message stating that a firmware is available.

I truly appreciate your understanding and feedback since this helps us to keep improving.

I'll be around if any questions arise.
