Aria 2 displays incorrect weight

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought some Aria 2 scales a couple of months ago and they have never displayed the correct weight. I have weighed myself on my old electronic scales and my none electric scales and they both display the same weight which is 3 or 4 pounds lighter that what Aria2 shows.

I have read various comments on this forum about this topic and I have followed the advice on how to re-calibrate the scales, but this has not worked. I am very frustrated by this as it cost me over £100, which is a lot of money for a set of scales. I bought them so that I could easily track my weight using Fitbit, but it would appear that it has been a complete waste of money. How can something so expensive not work correctly?

@AlistairG Welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria 2 is not providing accurate weight readings. I totally understand how frustrating this is for you. By the way, thank you for troubleshooting this issue before contacting our forums.

I'd like to know a few details that will help me to assist you accordingly: Is your Aria 2 placed on a hard surface? Are you stepping on it barefoot?

Looking forward to your response! 😀

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I am placing the Aria2 on a hard floor and standing on it barefoot.

I have removed the batteries for a few hours and then weighed myself 5 times consecutively and the scales still show the incorrect weight,

Alistair

Hi

I'm having exactly the same issue - I have compared to older scales and I regularly go to the gym and weigh myself there and appear 4-5 lbs lighter than on the Aria.

@Osy67 Thank you for joining us in this thread and our Fitbit Community! I'll be happy to assist you with the inaccurate readings that your Aria 2 is experiencing.

I you haven't done so, please restart and re-calibrate your Aria 2 by taking out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. Once you've done this, weigh yourself 5 times in a row. Finally, make sure that your scale is on an even or flat surface and you weigh yourself barefoot.

Keep me posted on the outcome! 😀

I am also having the same issue.

I've taken out the batteries for hours.

Weighed myself 5 times in a row.

Scale is on a hard surface.

I weigh barefoot.

I bought my aria in October and up until last week has always been extremely accurate. Now it is 20lbs off (not saying I don’t like seeing 20 less pounds reading on the scale) but I probably didn’t lose that much overnight, and I have another digital scale that is right beside it and stilll shows my accurate weight.

I tried the take the batteries out and weigh 5 times in a row, a couple of times but it still reports incorrect weight.

Hello

my scale is not showing the accurate weight. I have read all of your replies and followed all the directions you have given everyone, even flat surface and barefoot. What to do?

@YSLCOMETHRU thank you for participating in our Fitbit Community! I appreciate the time spent with the recommended troubleshooting steps.

I would like to know if you also tried the restart process, which consists in taking out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. If you already tried this, I'd like you to try one more workaround that has been helpful for this type of issues.

Please try setting up your Aria 2 from scratch and monitor your scale in order to see if your weight is correct.

This issue is still unresolved for me. I contacted support and followed their advice but it did not resolve the problem. I am very disappointed with this product.

Same story here. I had an Aria scale loved it had it for 5 years was within 1-2 lbs accurate.

Upgraded this year to an Aria 2... it is not accurate is 8 pounds lighter than I am... paid good $$$ for this scale and very disappointed as everyone else on this thread. I have numerous times taken out batteries recalabrated etc... without any results....

What are the next steps and how is Fitbit going to make this right?

Ugh, me too. I’m a AUS size 12, 170cm tall and slim to look at but I’m apparently 40.4% body fat and roughly 5-7kg heavier according to my Aria 2 than on my specialists scales. Tried all of the suggested fixes on this thread to no avail. What a joke and so much money wasted.

Having the same issue as the most recent people to comment, my scale is drastically underweighing myself and my girlfriend by about 8-10 pounds depending on the day and we both weighed in at the doctors recently and got completely different results than at home on our Aria2 we purchased from amazon within the last 3 months

Hello,

Fitbit has never gotten back to me still living with adding 8-10 to the number on the scale. I purchased mine through amazon as well. I had a Aria scale for 5 years and it was accurate but this second generation one is off. Let me know if you figure out how to get a replacement that works. Hitting a brick wall with service and fixing this issue.

Hello,

I am having the same problem. My scale weighs me 4-5 pounds lighter. If my weigh isn't accurate I have little confidence in the body fat calculator, which is the reason I bought the scale. I can weigh myself 5 times in a row and get 3 different weight, sometimes a half pound difference.

I do weigh in bare feet. What is my next step in resolving this issue? This seems to be a common problem.

I am so disappointed in this scale and the customer service that I just experienced. I have had this scale for 1 year and a few months, just out of warranty. It stopped displaying the correct weight. Off by roughly 20 lbs. I tried everything I could find in this forum and online to fix - taking batteries out, then weighing 5 consecutive times, taking batteries out, then changing from lbs to kg, lbs to stones, and back again, then weighing 5 consecutive times, changing gender, height, you-name-it, and back again, and weighing 5x - you get the idea. Customer service had me do it again, and sync, and behold, still no solution. I was told there was nothing they could do - not even a discount towards a new scale! I am so disappointed, and after 4 years with Fitbit and many device and scale purchases for myself and my family, I will move on to Apple Watch.

I have same problem with the scale weight varying 18 pounds for me.  Not interested in investing in an expensive scale that will only work a year or so.  Old fashioned bathroom scale and tape measurer might be my low tech replacement.
