I see that Fitbit advertises the Aria 2's accuracy but just how accurate is it? Is it +/- 0.5 lb accurate, 0.2 lb, something else or is it just marketing material? I can't find any numerical accuracy claims.
I recently received one as a gift and the first weigh-in was about 1.5 lb lower than my existing scale. The existing scale has always tracked pretty close to my doctor's office.

@ScottMelrose -- I've got an Aria 2, two Withings (now Nokia) scales and an older Omron. As far as weight goes, they are all within one or two pounds of each other. None are as close as +-.2 lbs to each other, though the newer Withings and the Aria 2 are about .6 lbs apart (the Aria usually reads a little heavier). I don't know how accurate my doctor's scale is, and would have a hard time comparing because I usually have at least some clothing on when I weigh-in at the doctor's office. Whereas, in the privacy of my own bathroom ....
I found the Aria 2 to have excellent repeatability -- that it, so long as it is on a flat surface, I can get off and reweigh myself a few seconds later and I usually get weight within +- 0-0.2 lbs, and a body fat percentage within 0.1% of the prior reading.

I have the Wii Fit Plus, and they are within maybe 3 pounds of each other, if that helps.

@farenku Welcome to this thread and our Fitbit forums! Your post caught my attention and I want to follow up on the accuracy issues that your Aria 2 has experienced. I would just like to know if the accuracy has to do with your weights only or if it also includes your body fat percentage and BMI.
In the meantime, please try this workaround: restart your scale by taking out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. After this, weigh yourself 5 consecutive times in order to re-calibrate it and see if the accuracy gets fixed.
Finally, I'd like you to check out the second to last subject that is listed in this help article which explains how you can get the most accurate reading from your Aria 2.
Keep me posted on the outcome!

I was so excited to get this scale. The body fat calculation is innacurate. Every day I weigh myself my body fat goes up 2 %. I am 5’7” 136lbs, size 4, 28” waist. I consider myself a trim person. Been for my whole adulthood. The Aria 2 scale reads my body fat at 33.6% and overnight it went to 35.9%. My son who is skinny, 6’1”, 29” waist, 138 lbs reads his at 23% and he’s more like 10%.
It is disappointing to see how innacurate it is. Wish I had done research in these chats beforehand buying it. Spending $130 on an inaccurate scale is a waste. My friend who isn’t a trainer measured my body fat with calipers and I came in at 26-%. So in my case 7-9-% off.
Buy a regular scale. Don’t buy this if you’re interested in tracking your body fat.

@AcuAdela It's great to see you in our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria 2 is not providing accurate body fat readings. I totally understand your frustration.
I'd like to help you and turn the bad experience you've had with your Aria 2 into a good experience.
Please restart your scale by taking out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. After this, weigh yourself 5 times in a row in order to re-calibrate your scale. Also, make sure that your scale is on a hard surface and you are standing on it barefoot.
Let me know how it goes! r

I already did this after searching the forums on how to calibrate it. I’m weighing myself at the same time, on tile, and the readings are 2-3% different every time, yet my weight is going down. The only reason I wantwd
this scale was for the body fat readings. Otherwise it’s just an expensive scale.

@AcuAdela Thank you for getting back! I'd like you to try one more workaround that will help me to determine how to proceed.
Please try changing the gender on your profile settings from female to male, save the changes and weigh yourself one time. After this, go back to your profile settings and change your gender back to female and save changes. Finally, sync your Aria 2 five times one more time and see if the accuracy gets fixed.
See you later!

I switched my gender to male and it gave me a body fat reading of 23.2%. Which is more accurate based on the calipers and on the military method.
Well, I switched gender back to female and it’s now reading my body fat at 34%. I can’t believe that for a $130 scale you have to play around with it so much to get a more accurate reading. I guess I’ll leave my gender as male as that gives me a more accurate body fat percentage. But really that shouldn’t matter at all if the device works through bio impedence. Very disappointing.
