Aria 2 no longer goes into setup mode

My title says it all. I changed the batteries in my Aria 2. Since then, it will not go into setup mode. No matter how many times I pull the batteries, how many times I push the reset button, it just starts up with the firmware version. Then if I press the reset button, I get the little Fitbit diamond, but no setup.

 

I have installed, uninstalled, cleared data, force stopped apps, taken batteries in and out.

 

What can be done to get setup mode to start?

Technical support tried a reboot, pronounced the unit defective, and apologized that their crappy product only lasted about 18 months, just long enough to be clearly out of warranty.

How do I contact customer support? My Aria 2 is brand new- bought it yesterday. Started to set up , appears on my account, but won’t sync any longer. Tried everything- reset, remove batteries, press button. etc’ just will not go into search mode and my devices can’t find it. It also doesn’t appear on bluetooth either.

I have the same issue I got the scale 18 months back. First, it stopped sync and when I deleted the scale and tried to connect again it wouldn't go to setup it only flashes the dots things. I removed the batteries and reconnected them after 30 minutes but nothing changed. I kept on pressing the small button it will show s bar (like it is downloading something) and after that, it will go back to the dots thing!!!

Had the same issues. Could not get to SETUP. Had the flashing diamond. 
When I read your comments I feared I would have to ditch the Aria 2. 
Then I switched to regular batteries instead of the rechargeables! The scale came to life, gave me a code to punch in my phone and everything is A-ok!
