Aria 2 shows wrong body fat % and a third measurement

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

A few days ago my scale started displaying three numbers where it had previously only shown two. It is showing weight, % body fat, and ????

at this same time the body fat % really dropped. I was hovering at about 20% and it dropped down to 15 something.  As an almost 60-year old woman, I seriously doubt this number is correct,

Can anyone explain? Does Fitbit push out updates that may account for this? If so, I think they got it radically wrong on the body fat which is very disappointing as that is what I'm trying to work on these days.

It's possible that there was an update released.  I can't say for sure, as I have been sick and unable to exercise, which means no scale for me this week.

Fitbit does occasionally send firmware upgrades for free for their merchandise, so it's very possible that the Aria 2 had an upgrade.

The third number is BMI but I have no idea why it suddenly started showing that - mine has all along.

@AngelaFrench It's great to see you in our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry by the way about the late response and the wrong body fat readings that you are getting from your Aria scale.

My friends @DramaQueenDiva and @NellyG mentioned correct information: Our team has not released recent updates for the scale and the third reading you get after body fat is BMI. Now, regarding the wrong body fat readings you are getting from it, please restart and re-calibrate your Aria 2 by taking out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. Once you have done this, weigh yourself 5 consecutive times and see if your body fat percentage is more accurate.

For the BMI reading, I'm not quite sure either why it started showing all of a sudden. However, you can go ahead and turn off or on this option. To do so, please check out this help article, under the subject "What does the the Aria 2 measure?"

I'll be around if more questions arise! Smiley Happy.

My scale does not show BMI, either on the scale itself or on the app.  I followed instructions through support to go to my name on the app, and the only optiins are to change my name or turn on “lean” mode.  Help, 0kease??

@Ccypher Thank you for joining us in this thread! Seems odd that your scale is not showing your BMI, even after following the steps to enable this option through the app. In order to avoid any confusion on my end, please let me know if you have an Aria 1 or an Aria 2. You can find the differences of the scales in this post. Once you reply with this info, I'll be happy to proceed and assist you.

Looking forward to your response! Smiley Happy

What is the third number that displays?  I get weight, bmi, and then a third number that looks similar to a bmi but is significantly lower.

@Jbassine thank you for participating in our Fitbit Community! Regarding your inquiry about the 3rd reading that your Aria 2 displays, the scale displays weight, BMI and body fat percentage.

I'd like you to check out this help article, which explains more information about what information your scale measures.
