Yesterday, my scales didn’t recognize me and said guest during the weigh in. In went into the app - recent weigh ins, and changed it to me. Today, the scales didn’t recognize me again. I went into recent weigh ins, but this time, there was no guest weight registered. So, I tried three more times and got nothing.
I then came to the Community to search for help. So far, I’ve tried removing the batteries and stepping on the scales 5 times (6 times, just in case) to recalibrate. Nothing. Tried that again. Nothing.
I’ve removed the scales from my app and readded them (twice); logged out of the app and back in (6 times); done a hard reset of my device (3 times), and then tried adding the scales again (twice). Tried removing the batteries again, and then stepping on 5 times again. I then got on to my Fitbit account via the web browser, hit the settings cog, gone into my Aria 2 to look for recent weigh ins and possibly change it to me there. However, I can’t find any data about weigh ins on the website.
It’s been 2.5 hours now, and I’m ready to throw the scales out the window.
Can anyone advise, please?

Yes, I can get the scale to log my weight if I put a piece of paper between my feet and the scale. Otherwise no weight is logged in the app under my profile or guest. Since this happened to us all on the same date, it seems unlikely that it is a hardware issue, but who knows???

I feel like Fitbit made a change probably for privacy purposes, I can only see my own weights when I go onto aria and not my husband’s. But given we’ve bought the scale as a family we want to be able to see all the weights. And like others lately it has been registering me as a guest but it is not visible on the app for me to allocate it. Fitbit should surely know what change they made and reverse it. If we want to see all the weights registered then we should be able to and I guess if someone wants their weight to be private maybe there should be an option for them to select that instead of it being a blanket change.

this seems to be an issue with a recent change how to the fit bit app works. I'm guessing a change for privacy reasons, tho I can not find anything talking about it.
When you go to view recent weigh-ins in the aria scale it will only show your recent weigh ins, where previously it showed all weigh ins. With showing all weigh ins, you could change who it was that weighed in and if the scale said you were a guest you could reassign it to your self.
Now if it was another registered user who weighed it you would not be able to see there weight, but you could re-assign it to you and you could see there weight, which is the loop hole I assume this fix is addressing. It means tho if the scale things your a guest you can not reassign it to you, so people are having to do work around's like wearing socks so it will ask who the person is, in which case if you say it is you. Then you will get the weight measurement in recent weigh ins.
This change has also changed the dashboard of the site to remove the listing of all weights as well.
I can not find any communications about this change, there is no way to opt out of it or change the settings, this privacy option has just been forced on all users.
I have been using fit bit products for quite a few years, but something like this makes me start to look if there is something else I can use instead and move away from fitbit.

I contacted Fitbit support a few days ago and have a case with them. I cannot participate here earlier because I was blocked from this forum.
It feels like Fitbit has added a filter to show only one’s own weights in the app for privacy. However, now I cannot reassign any wrong or guest weight. It is an obvious overlook.

@JuanFitbit please escalate this matter. The scale is useless right now. It registers me as a guest and won’t let me change it so weights don’t appear. If I wanted a manual scale I wouldn’t have paid for this. What a waste of money!

On the conspiracy theory, is Google launching the Pixel Smart scale soon that will allow users the ability to reassign guest weights?
On the bright side, Fitbit support said they are reviewing my case with the team. Fingers crossed for an official announcement from Fitbit.

This problem has been going on for a long time. When will it get resolved?

Hello Juan Fitbit. Thank you for your note. Somehow this forum thinks this issue is resolved because you have answered that it's under investigation. For me, this does not mean it's resolved. It means you're investigating. What is the status and when will we see a resolution or explanation? Thank you.

It’s amazing to me that this issue is taking weeks to fix. Today my weight was assigned to Guest, so after after Aria 2 finished recording (or not recording in this case), I tried the “trick” some have been talking about. I put a piece of paper on the scale, stood on it, and was given the option of selecting a user (me or my spouse). So I selected my icon and viola, my weight was properly recorded. But that’s so weird and completely ridiculous.

Yes, same here. Have to go into app and enter weight manually even though it says it synced. Frustrating.

That’s exactly right. I never said it was answered because it certainly hasn’t been resolved, and it’s going on almost 3 weeks. I believe Juan himself “resolved” the issue.
For those following, I contacted Support, and was told someone in ‘tech’ would be in contact. When I’d heard nothing 24 hours later, I contacted Support again. Again, I was told someone from ‘tech’ would be in contact in 24 to 48 hours. No one from ‘tech’ contacted me. Support did get in contact again though and said they’d send out a ‘replacement’ Air scale if I could provide proof of purchase of my Aria 2. I still had the receipt, but told Support that an Air is not a replacement for an Aria 2, which I got for the Body Fat tracking - the only metric I care about. Support told me they’d refund my Aria 2 purchase once I returned the faulty scales.
My take away from all of this, especially given there’s been no resolution (or any Fitbit communication to anyone!) in almost three weeks AND the refund offer is… the Aria 2 scales no longer function and Fitbit’s given up on them. I’d advise to send them back, get a refund, and invest in a new brand that works. I’ve gone Witherings.

@Hshdhhhhh Good for you. Mine was redeemed for free many years ago. I'm not sure if I could refund mine as well. Mind if I ask is the issue only on Aria 2 but not Aria Air? I would have thought they work similarly.
Technically, Fitbit should be able to revert a change quickly. It feels like it can't due to some regulations or privacy concerns. But IMO it is simply a wrong design if we cannot reassign a guest weight. Why don't they just add an option to always allow us to reassign a weight on the scale right after? Or add an administrative account so at least one person can reassign weight within a certain time.

It is not looking good.
I just read the original Fitbit Aria is no longer supported by Fitbit and Fitbit app.

Doest Fitbit still commit to support Aria series or Google Pixel Scale is replacing it?

+1 to issues here. can't see guest list. if I assign my weight to 'GUEST' it disappears, too.
I use the scale to weigh things by first weighing myself, then weigh myself holding the thing. Like a dog. I can't see the scale during the second weighing, and the reported weight to fitbit is usually different than the weight the scale displays anyways.
Hope this gets solved soon.

My theory is if Fitbit is still investing the root cause. Technically it sounds like they aren’t sure if the issue is caused by the Fitbit team or the Google technical team. Normally during integration, each team will ask the other team to investigate if an issue happens. And the time taken will be more than double. Fingers crossed.
