Aria 2 won’t register guest weight

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday, my scales didn’t recognize me and said guest during the weigh in. In went into the app - recent weigh ins, and changed it to me. Today, the scales didn’t recognize me again. I went into recent weigh ins, but this time, there was no guest weight registered. So, I tried three more times and got nothing.

I then came to the Community to search for help. So far, I’ve tried removing the batteries and stepping on the scales 5 times (6 times, just in case) to recalibrate. Nothing. Tried that again. Nothing.

I’ve removed the scales from my app and readded them (twice); logged out of the app and back in (6 times); done a hard reset of my device (3 times), and then tried adding the scales again (twice). Tried removing the batteries again, and then stepping on 5 times again. I then got on to my Fitbit account via the web browser, hit the settings cog, gone into my Aria 2 to look for recent weigh ins and possibly change it to me there. However, I can’t find any data about weigh ins on the website.

It’s been 2.5 hours now, and I’m ready to throw the scales out the window.

Can anyone advise, please?

I’m having the same issue. My husband has his own account, but hasn’t used it in forever. One day I could view the recent weigh-ins for everyone, and the next day they were gone. He doesn’t use his Fitbit account anymore with a tracker, but he can see all the recent weigh-ins. I’m not sure how he’s the only person and can reassign them when the scale was added h see my account. I wish they would fix it fast so I can track my kid’s weights as guest again.

Can you please confirm what you mean by "he can see all the recent weigh-ins"? Do you mean he can see weigh-ins assigned to Guest? Or do you mean he can see weigh-ins assigned to other users of the scales?

I can see neither. I can only see my own now. Previously we had all configured our accounts to let us see each others weigh-ins in case it assigned them wrongly. And like everyone else here, the Guest weigh-ins aren't visible.

This has been so frustrating, so I can relate!  I've been having this problem for a couple of months.  Given that the Aria 2 has been discontinued, I wonder how high the priority will be for resolving this issue.....

It would be interesting to know if it even is a priority. For a couple of discontinued products, it might be too much work to fix. If that's the case, it would be good to have an official announcement that support has ended.

I have been struggling with this same issue and have been trying all the different things on here that everyone recommends! I finally got it to recognize me again. I manually entered in my weight 2 times and then the 3rd time I stepped on the scale it finally recognized me again! Hopefully they will bring back the guest weigh-ins again to make it easier to just reassign the weigh in.

So is there any fix for this yet? I have been having this problem intermittently for some time. It is fine if the scale is not going to recognize me or even ask which user is on the scale and just log the weight as "GUEST" as long as I can reassign the weigh-in to me but I can't do that.

I have had same issue for months; sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t recognize me but doesn’t post a Guest weight. It is hit and miss.

I've just given up, like someone said they are not going to fix it, they just don't care. I've seen this with other Google products so ultimately I'm not gonna buy another Google product. I was gonna get the latest Pixel phone and even considered the watch but since I've seen the experience with this and some of their Nest products I've just given up and got rid of my scales.

I've now bought Eufy Smart Scale P2 Pro, Digital Body Scale from Costco and that works great and tells me way more information.

Good luck y'all , you are gonna need it 👍

Well Google just announced that they have withdrawn Fitbit products from my country (and about a dozen others too around the world) so it does look like they are anyway giving it less attention. So for me, it is now anyway the end of the road with Fitbit. My next scale will be something else whether I like it or not.

Interesting, but I don't think it's what it sounds like. "The official list of confirmed countries affected includes Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hong Kong, Hungary, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Thailand. More vaguely, the support pages say Fitbit will also stop selling products in “the broader Latin American countries.”

"it has decided to stop selling both Fitbit and Nest products in “select countries” to “align our hardware portfolio to map closer to Pixel’s regional availability.”

"Despite no longer making products available in certain countries, Fitbit did say existing customers would still receive support in the way of software releases, security updates, warranty fulfillments, and customer support."

So for the rest of the world, business as usual for now. Those quotes are from https://www.theverge.com/2023/11/9/23953848/fitbit-pixel-global-availability-wearables-smartwatches

With 30 pages of people commenting on this problem why the hell has it not been solved yet? @google sort this out please. 🤣

It could've been 60 by now. But posts keep "disappearing".

I am having the exact issues as the many others in this post.   Can we have an update on progress to remedy please.

I figured it out in my case. The scale wouldn't recognise me because I have lost a lot of weight since I last used the scale.

Now we have no access to guest readings we cannot reassign them to ourselves.

I picked up some suitcases until I was around my old weight so the scale recognised me again.

I gradually put suitcases down and kept re-weighing myself until I was down to my true weight.

I then went into the app and deleted the fake readings.

Amazing. Thanks so much. This worked! I just picked up a box that took me to my husbands weight (seems to have flipped guest readings and my readings). Then I weighed and reading was recognized as my profile. I weighed a few times to recalibrate.

I will be interested to see if my husband weighs in if this happens again.

Of course issue still remains that guest readings are no longer recorded. I tried adding my husband as a user but despite trying a couple of email addresses this didn’t work either.

Thanks for the help.

I came across this older thread, where people were complaining that it was possible to view other people's weights by reassigning them to themselves and back again. I'm wondering if Fitbit finally fixed that issue, and broke the ability to see Guest weights at the same time.

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Aria-Scales/Aria-weight-ins-aren-t-actually-private/td-p/1142358/pag...

I can't see anyone else's weights now. There aren't even blank weighings for other people who hadn't shared them.

I haven't tried adding images befofre, hope it works. I found this old screenshot from the Fitbit app (iPhone) from 2017. Unfortunately I couldn't find one showing any Guest weights. It shows the scales' users' full names, and you can see the weights of those users who have shared them. Note it shows the E... user at the top with no weight, because that user didn't share them.

Below is what it looks like now (Android tablet) - names are just the first initial, and only mine is showing. Is this what it's looking like for everyone else? Not only are Guest weighings missing, but also the other users'. I'm not sure if this happened the same time as the Guest weights disappeared. I'd like to at least get back the other users' weights. Have I done something wrong to lose them, or is this all part of the same problem? If it's like this for everyone, the problem is not that Guest weighings are hidden, but that all weighings except our own are hidden.

The problem has not been solved (and won't be solved until the Guest weights are back, so we can re-assign them), but based on the workarounds here I have now found one that works for me (original Aria). Maybe it helps someone.

I've changed my initials in the app. Then I rebooted the scale. Then I weighed myself hanging on to a doorpost so I was as close as I could to the needed weight. I did all this with bare feet (well, actually only the weighing:-) so my BMI would be recorded. This was enough to let the Aria recognise me with my new initials. And my weight shows up in the app and on the web dashboard.

Same going on here.
