Yesterday, my scales didn’t recognize me and said guest during the weigh in. In went into the app - recent weigh ins, and changed it to me. Today, the scales didn’t recognize me again. I went into recent weigh ins, but this time, there was no guest weight registered. So, I tried three more times and got nothing.
I then came to the Community to search for help. So far, I’ve tried removing the batteries and stepping on the scales 5 times (6 times, just in case) to recalibrate. Nothing. Tried that again. Nothing.
I’ve removed the scales from my app and readded them (twice); logged out of the app and back in (6 times); done a hard reset of my device (3 times), and then tried adding the scales again (twice). Tried removing the batteries again, and then stepping on 5 times again. I then got on to my Fitbit account via the web browser, hit the settings cog, gone into my Aria 2 to look for recent weigh ins and possibly change it to me there. However, I can’t find any data about weigh ins on the website.
It’s been 2.5 hours now, and I’m ready to throw the scales out the window.
Can anyone advise, please?

I am no longer beating my head against the wall. And in protest I have switched to Apple watch, which is superior in every way to any fitbit I ever owned in 11 years. Yes, 11 years. I am ashamed to say how many fitbit devices I have bought over the years. It is over a dozen.

I've left as well. Been a Fitbit user since 2014.. Swapped my watch for a Garmin, and my scale for a withings.
Good luck everyone!

I just thought I'd post this link to a very old thread here about what to do if your scales register your weighings as Guest: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Aria-Scales/Aria-scale-says-I-am-a-Guest/td-p/1037239/highlight/true
I'm not offering this as any kind of solution, but as a warning. Back in the good old days when we could reassign Guest weighings, tech support was never able to offer a reliable way of getting the scales to start recognising a user. That thread is 8 years old, and as far as I know, they still can't. It should be pretty simple. It's just using an algorithm to work it out, so you just have to provide it the right information, but tech support doesn't know what that is. Reassign the weights 5 times in a row, weigh with and without socks, enter your height, etc. All have worked for some people, but not reliably for everyone.
One user listed 12 suggestions they'd heard of - https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Aria-Scales/Aria-scale-says-I-am-a-Guest/m-p/3642500/highlight/true#....
My warning is that tech support have never been provided the information from their own support people to resolve that problem reliably in 8 years, so don't hold your breath for a solution to this new one. Missing guest weights are likely going to be missing forever. I think the best we can hope for is an official anouncement that that's the case.

Can you please explain the process the Withings scales use to allocate weights to different users? I'm considering swapping too, but this part of the process is hard to look up for each model.

@RRRize -
The hack/workaround you proposed worked for me on my FitBit Aria that I purchased back in June 2014. It was a bit tricky to get my weight to be within 8lbs. of when my Aria last recognized me. Like you, I had to do it in a couple of iterations. I also now see my recent weigh ins from within the Android FitBit App.
Needless to say I gained a few pounds since it last recognized me in March of 2023.
Thanks so much for the idea!!!
Seems like this should be an easy fix for even the most novice software developer.

Come on Fitbit, fix the guest weight re-assignment issue. Please don't just ignore us.

Can you please explain which suggestion you tried? There have been several since this began in May 2022.

I ended up looking up the user manual for one of the Withings scales. They give a choice of a similar method to what used to work with Fitbit scales, with separate user accounts, or a single account with multiple users configured. The latter method means no privacy restrictions, which some people might like, but it would work well for us as a family where only one person has to do all the setup (me), and all the users just want it to work.

Hi,
I had the same problem but I have a workaround that did the job for me. I put on a few pounds (maybe 10 !) since I last used Aria. So it didn't recognise my weigh and only gave guest,so I couldn't tap to my name. So I weighed myself again but took some of my weight off by holding on to something as I stood on the scales, so I was closer to my original weight, then it recognised me. I then weighed myself a few more times, incrementally decreasing the load I was taking off the scales. So after a few times moving up 2 or 3 lbs at a time it now recognises me. I'm not suggesting those that are having issues with the scale recognising them is due to having put on a few too many pounds since they last weighted themselves but in my case it seemed to be the case.(it could work the other way too and to have lost a lot of weight since the last weight in) Try it and see if it works.

I don't understand why individuals keep posting completely irrelevant stories about the way they managed to get the Aria-2 scale to recognise themselves. That's not the point of this thread!
Please, let's stick to the subject! The Aria-2 doesn't allow guest weights to be reassigned to a profile. That's a change in functionality and Google/Fitbit has no plans to fix it.

I would suggest you post that question to a totally different forum on a different website and get a thread going about understanding people, how to show tolerance and how to deal with sarcastic people.

People are posting about that here because it's a related problem. The previously accepted method of getting the scales to recognise them was to reassign Guest weights, and now they can't. If they start a new thread, they'll have to explain all over again the Guest weights aren't accessible.
If might be helpful though if people were very clear about what problem they've solved so we don't get our hopes up for nothing.
