Aria Air weight unit choice issue

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi folks,

Just received and used my aria air for the first couple of times. In the app I use Stones and Lbs for weight measurement, the aria air I have set to the same.

The problem is when I weigh myself the aria air changes the units on the fitbit app to pounds! I then manually have to keep changing the app settings back to st/lbs every time I use the scales.

It also after syncing the weight from the scales after every use I get a pop up asking me to setup my aria air scales! They are setup, if this continues I'll be sending it back.

Anyone have a solution?

I sent Fitbit screenshots and detail and they told me that because my Android phone wasn't listed on their supported list, then they couldn't help me.

I think they meant the phone rather than the Android version, but anyway, I'm on Android 8.1.0 at present, last patched 1 Feb 2019.

Strange - because it worked beforehand on the same phone for me and I had no upgrade

I cannot understand why Fitbit dismissed your request for help @jtraxy - it's a software issue not a compatibility issue.  Anyway, I have also contacted them today, with a similar message. I believe my Android phone is supported.

hi, thanks for updating, I have the same problem.

Having the exact same issue but using KG, gets reset to LBS every time. Can't believe Fitbit haven't even acknowledged this. It renders their product completely useless as it's much quicker to manually enter a weight than have to set it back to the right unit...

Same here. Amazed that Fitbit are not responding on this. Makes me extremely annoyed that what I bought for convenience is actually totally counterproductive. I have to take my fitbit OFF to use the scale and avoid editing the units every time and instead enter manually. This makes it far worse than using a generic scale at a lower price.

I was getting this issue too when I bought my Aria Air several months ago. Everything set to kilograms, Aira Air and profile, but almost every weigh-in changed my profile setting to lbs. I downloaded the firmware update app and updated it from (I can't remember) to A09 and the issue went from being almost every weigh-in to once every few weeks. It just happened again so I came here to see if there's an official word and seems not, but I've checked the app again and updated the firmware to A16 so we'll see how that goes.

Hey eartle, just for reference mine was on A09 from new and was consistently giving this issue. I've upgraded to A16 but the same persists for me unfortunately...

The name of the app is "Aria Air Update" in Google play store for anyone looking, very straight forward to upgrade.

Yep, it's gone back to switching to lbs every time again. Don't know why I was having such luck before. Very disappointed that this hasn't been addressed and the only solution appears to be to use an iPhone. I think I'll migrate my data over to Google Fit and just get something that works directly with that.

Also having this issue.

Set it up today, updated the firmware to A16 using the app, factory reset for good measure and it still logs in lbs regardless of what units are set on the scales or app!

Infuriating!!

I've just logged this with Fitbit.

I am to receive an email within 24h from a "scales trained specialist"... We shall see what comes of it

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. After updating the firmware the issue persists. Really strange they are not responding to this topic. Both the issue and the way it's being handled are far from professional. Starting to think I should stop using Fitbit products.

I'm pretty patient, most of the time, but in this case that doesn't seem to be rewarded. Guess I'll have to send it back and get a refund. Disappointed ☹️

@KateFitbit this topic was started in 2019 and the issue still exists with the Aria Air in 2021. How is this possible... Please handle this issue! How complex can it be?!

I've send a request to fix this annoying and unprofessional issue to the helpdesk. I'm not expecting a response, since this issue persists since 2019 and I'm definitely not the first person to report it to their helpdesk. If I don't get a response within a few days I'll return the Aria Air and probably won't ever buy a FitBit product again. I don't want to invest my money into a company that ignores their customers.

They will respond, but they will say it's your phone at fault.

@Fitbit this is my 3rd phone paired. Is it my phones?

No - its not thats just the excuse. I have a samsung 10 and it has worked on this phone on and off  -so its nothing to do with my phone. It had actually been find for months and then it went back to lbs last week - nuts!

I'm a software developer with 25 years of experience and this obviously is a bug in the software. It has nothing to do with the platform the app is running on. That's juist 100% bs.

Might be saying this too early... But looks to be fixed on my end now!

Just got mine and exactly the same issue. I've updated to the latest firmware on the scales with no change. Really disappointing to see that this was originally raised in 2019 and I can't believe it would be that complex a fix to simply persist a setting in the app.

@KateFitbit or anyone else at Fitbit who's reading this, please move this up the backlog as I would hate to return a birthday present from my wife over something which should be so simple to fix.

I gave up and returned it. Pretty sure the issue won't be solved, succes it's being ignored for two years. I've purchased a Whithings Body+. Awesome, bug free and relyable scale! You can sync the data to the FitBit app and Google Fit with ease.
